And not just any vineyard, but one in Hungary’s smallest wine region, for Somló Stellplatz is a small caravan park next to a winery at the foot of Somló Hill – where white wines have been produced since the 12th century – in Central Transdanubia. Sitting in the shadow of landmark Somló Castle, which looms on the horizon, the park has handy facilities to make your stay a breeze, including electric hook-ups and drinking water at all the pitches, as well as a comprehensive waste-management and recycling service. The site is gated for your total security and peace of mind, and access is through an automatic barrier with individual entry codes. Other useful amenities include a playground for kids to stretch their legs, plus a small communal kitchen for cooking up simple meals and a barbecue for alfresco grilling.

Liked Easy to book on Pitch Up

Disliked Nobody on site and the owner emailed to say I wouldn't get the access code till I pay the balance by bank transfer. Would make more sense if the whole fee could be paid on Pitch Up.
On the Pitch Up website it says can pay by card on arrival but nobody was there. In fact we wondered if it was the right place as it was deserted. Also they wanted an IBAN transfer which would've cost me £25 bank fee.
We left the site didn't reflect the pictures either.
Booking was cancelled as we had to wild camp at Somlo Point

Based on your feedback, we have enabled direct online payment on pitchup.com, so bank transfers or on-site payments will no longer be necessary, as the balance can now be settled online at the time of booking. We hope you will visit the beautiful Somló hill again.

Disliked Není to oplocené a cesta k tomu je jak tankodrom ty silnice druhé třídy. Po zabudování jsem psal dotaz a nebylo mi odpovězeno takže až na místě jsem zjistil že posílali mail kde se má platba platit dopředu a pak přijde kód k brance. No nic extra domluva.

Wine buffs can go tasting (and most likely buying) at Somló wine estates including Bogdán (five minutes’ drive), Csordás-Fodor and the organic winery Kreinbacher. You can also tour the vines and cellars at Somló Abbey (all 10 minutes), where wine production first began several hundred years ago. Somló Castle (10 minutes) peers over the surrounding countryside from its hilltop perch, and is open for rambles around the photogenic ruins of its 13th-century tower and ramparts. Walk up there in half an hour from the Somló Hill car park and you’ll be rewarded by far-reaching views over the surrounding vineyards. Other historic buildings to check out include St Margit Chapel (10 minutes), a church much remodelled down the centuries, now with a Baroque facade and a revered centuries-old linden tree in the churchyard. Close by is miniscule St Ilona Chapel (five minutes), accessible only on foot and topped with a gleaming gold-tiled tower.
