What customers say
Campsite praised for spacious, well-laid-out sites & beautiful riverside location. Friendly, helpful staff create a welcoming vibe. Great facilities (pool, bar/snack bar), but some found toilets dated/unkempt & shower hot water pressure low. Wi-Fi spotty; village has few amenities.

Camping Le Saillet is in a…
Power optional grass campsite
Liked Camping Le Saillet is in a fantastic location at Lestelle Bétharram, right beside the fast flowing Gave de Pau and surrounded by the foothills of the Pyrenees.
Our pitch was lovely and spacious, approximately 150 square metres, with green grass and neatly manicured hedges around it. Most of the pitches appeared to be of a similar standard, with plenty of room for a motorhome, awning and outdoor seating.
The shower and toilet block was very close to our pitch and also included the washing up area. Everything was clean and tidy, and the showers themselves were perfectly acceptable. However, each block only had three showers and three toilets, which did not seem enough for the number of people using them. On several occasions people were waiting, so a couple more of each would make a big difference.
There was also a lovely covered communal eating area, a bit like a wooden bandstand, with tables and benches. The bar was not very large, but it was pleasant and had a nice atmosphere. We stopped for a drink and found all the staff to be extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The campsite also has an outdoor swimming pool, although we did not use it because the weather was slightly overcast and cooler than we had experienced elsewhere. It was still around 25 degrees during the day, but the evenings cooled down nicely, which made sleeping much more comfortable.
The location is excellent for walking and cycling. We took our electric bikes into Lestelle Bétharram and explored the old village, the historic stone bridge, the sanctuary, churches and chapels. The area has a great deal of history and is well worth exploring. Personally, we enjoyed discovering these quieter local places just as much as our visit to Lourdes, if not more.
Lourdes is close enough for a day trip. The bus stop is only about a five minute walk from the campsite, and the journey takes roughly half an hour. We caught the 9.25am bus and there was only one other passenger apart from the four of us. The bus was clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced at around €18 return for all four of us.
We decided not to wait for the return bus at around 5pm because we felt we had seen everything we wanted to see in Lourdes, so we ordered an Uber instead. It took about 20 minutes to arrive and cost approximately €30 back to the campsite, which we thought was good value.
Lourdes is definitely worth visiting, particularly the Sanctuary, the Grotto and the holy water fountains, although we did not find it quite as spectacular as we had expected. We actually preferred exploring the old churches, bridge and chapels around Lestelle Bétharram, which felt quieter and had a great deal of character and history.
For anyone looking for something more adventurous, rafting trips are available directly from the campsite on the Gave de Pau. We did not have enough time to try it, but it looked like a great activity. The historic village of Bruges is also only around 12 kilometres away and would make another good place to visit.
Overall, this was a great campsite in a beautiful riverside location. The pitches were large, grassy and well maintained, the staff were exceptionally friendly, and there was plenty to see and do nearby. The only real criticism would be the limited number of showers and toilets.
We would definitely return and would happily recommend Camping Le Saillet to anyone wanting a peaceful campsite near Lourdes, with beautiful scenery, cycling routes, historic villages and outdoor activities close by.

Loved the dite. great for one night stop over - shame about the disco.
Power optional grass campsite
Liked Lovel relaxed host and chilled vibe onsite with cool bar with Hawain vibes. White water ksysking and river.
Disliked Not sure if it was a nightclub or a party but some festival scale disco with a crazy base that rocked out camper with vibration started at around 23.00 until well past 13.00 hours- not the owners fault but was really really loud and led to disturbed sleep, on our one night stop over.
