  • Picton Castle Gardens 15 minutes’ drive; Saundersfoot 25 minutes
  • Preseli Hills views; playground; barbecues for hire; dogs welcome
There are more than just a couple of oak trees at Twin Oaks Holidays. In fact, this site on a farm in west Wales, is positively surrounded by them. They provide shade for the spacious pitches and plenty of potential entertainment – especially if your kids are in a climbing mood. Children who have never climbed a tree (and have no intention of starting now) needn’t worry, though: there’s lots for them to do here, starting with a play area and the chance to meet the resident animals, not to mention oodles of space to run around in. Located just off the A40, a five-minute drive from the market town of Narberth, this spot is a cinch for caravans and motorhomes to reach, and it has a hard road to park on (so there’ll be no getting stuck in the mud). You can wake up to views of the pretty Preseli Hill, then head into Coed Canaston Wood (five minutes’ drive) for a walk with your four-legged companion, a welcome guest here. There’s also fishing to be had nearby – just ask on the farm for details. Amenities include a well-maintained toilet and shower block with plenty of hot water. Keen to put your campfire cooking skills to the test? You can rent a barbecue or a firepit on site and prepare a meal with provisions sourced from Narberth. (There’s also a communal fridge freezer and a covered washing-up area.) If stoking up the barbecue feels too much like hard work, Narberth has plenty of independent cafés and restaurants.

What customers say

Well-maintained, dog-friendly site with great views. Families and peace-seekers love it. Clean facilities, though some basic; occasional hot water/toilet comments at peak times. Owners, especially Linda, are super welcoming. Spacious pitches and location near Narberth are bonuses. Quiet evenings.

Liked Beautiful quiet campsite, good size pitches, basic but clean facilities including electric showers (which is always brilliant) I liked the nice touch that the owners left out a badminton set and other bat and ball that kids could use. Good size fridge/freeze. Good little walk around site for dog and separate field for them to be let off.

Liked Lovely small campsite, very friendly owner Linda. Only a 30 minute easy walk into Narbeth and more than enough pubs to quench your thirst. Lovely views of the fields and twin oaks.

Disliked Maybe another toilet and WiFi as relied on 4G which was sketchy but wasn't a priority for us

Liked The host was great and checked up on us from time to time. Great facilities. It's not new or modern but everything works and toilets/showers are always clean. The grass was amazingly neat and soft which makes all the difference. It's a smaller site so the walk to facilities are simple and easy to leave and come back to site as well.

Disliked We were pitched on a bit of a slope, which means everything ( beds, kitchen, stove, tables) were too. This made sleeping and cooking a bit tricky, but we were only there for 2 nights, so it was okay.

Liked Hidden Gem!

Beautiful peaceful little site with far reaching views and easy walk into Narberth with its lovely shops, pubs and restaurants and regular bus/train into Tenby. Warm welcome from Linda, the owner, who went above and beyond during our stay to help us with several issues with our motorhome. An absolute star! Will look forward to staying again.

Local attractions

The vintage-style rides at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (10 minutes’ drive) include dodgems, chair-o-planes and a waltzer, plus a Ferris wheel. The children might prefer to make a beeline for the animals, though, with exotic beasties in the zoo and meet-and-greet experiences in the barn (including lambs and miniature ponies). Stroll through the woodland at Picton Castle Gardens (15 minutes), admiring lush ferns, rhododendron bushes and giant redwood trees, then check out the winged residents at the Welsh Owl Garden or explore the elegant interiors of the stately home. You’re less than half an hour from the coast here, so when the seaside calls on a summer’s day, make sure you answer. Saundersfoot (25 minutes) has a sandy beach and shallow waters for paddling, plus a harbour with seafood restaurants and fishing charter boats. Tenby (25 minutes) has two sandy stretches either side of a headland topped by the ruins of a medieval castle.
