Broadway Campsite: Sunset looking out towards the Atlantic

General

  • Relaxed and peaceful farmstead site near the Pembrokeshire coast
  • Within easy reach of wildlife-spotting day trips to Ramsey island
  • Less than a mile to Broad Haven beach and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path

Bring on the beach days… make your way to Broadway Campsite and you’ll be in a prime spot for heaps of Pembrokeshire’s finest sandy stretches.

For starters, this welcoming place is less than a mile from Broad Haven beach, a particularly excellent place for a family day out; Newgale, Little Haven, Nolton Haven and Marloes Sands are all within a 20-minute drive too if you want a little list to work your way down. Gaps in between them are filled with walks on the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, and there’s plenty more activity nearby in the form of horse riding, surf lessons, sea kayaking and coasteering.

There’s a relaxed vibe on site (the word ‘friendly’ crops up time and again in previous guests’ reviews), with plenty of space around the meadows for games, campfires and putting your feet up while taking in the views. And what views they are – open countryside to the east and sea views to the west… perhaps best enjoyed with a drink in hand as the sun sets…?

A 20-minute stroll takes you into the centre of Broad Haven for a small supermarket, a pub and a couple of cafés; for a proper stock-up of barbecue provisions you’ll need to make the 10-minute drive to Haverfordwest.

Lovely friendly site that is owned by a young family that keep it spotlessly clean, especially the toilets and shower. Slightly difficult to find a flat pitch, but this is normal for Pembrokeshire. Great recycling set up etc. Good views and an enjoyable walk into Broad Haven. As its mid way between the North and South Coasts great for visiting them both. This site is directly off a good road, unlike alot in the area that mean you have to negotiate single track roads to reach them. Stayed at four sites within the area and this was by far the friendliest.

The most lovely view from the back field and peaceful vibe. The two chickens running around were gorgeous and Kayleigh was super nice, she even took in a parcel for me when we needed to have a part for our tent delivered. I liked the organisation of recycling into different bins which was very easy to use and it looked like all campers were careful to recycle correctly.

    Disliked:

I would have really preferred to have hot water available at the dishwashing station.

Relaxed great price campsite near to the sea with some lovely views.09/01/2021

Relaxed campsite, with lovely view of the sea ( if you stay in 2nd field near the top) and great sunsets.
No fixed areas if you haven't booked electric, just turn up and choose your place. It reminded me of what camping used to be like. Very reasonable prices.
Amenities currently consist of one shower and two toilets, which were ample for the number of people staying on August 2021 bank holiday weekend ( I only had to queue for the loo once!). Amenities were really clean. Area for rubbish including recycling really well organized and clean and tidy. Very close to broadhaven beach, 2 min drive to main car park (£5 day). I believe you can walk but this wasn't an option with all the stuff and a 2 year old for us.
We didn't have electric, which was fine for a few days ( note, there is no option for storage of freezer blocks, so you have to just buy what you need daily).
Site does have a few electric pitches available if you want it, which I would probably choose if staying for longer than a few days.
    Will be returning :-)

    Disliked:

No hot water for washing up. This would make it difficult if I wanted to stay for more than a few days ( and not rely on eating out).
Would recommend a mop is provided so that campers can use it, to help with water drainage in the shower.

Basic campsite but wasn't extremely busy. Enough room to everybody with enough space between everyone. Owner is very nice and friendly. We have stayed before and would 100% stay again. 15 minute walk to the beach. Option to arrive and leave whenever is really helpful too.

    Disliked:

The field is slanted so just be aware of this or being steadys if you are in a van.

Local attractions

Whatever flavour of beach day you favour, there’s likely to be something to suit along this stretch of Pembrokeshire coast. Paddles and sandcastles are the order of the day at Broad Haven beach, and there’s more of the same at Marloes Sands (20 minutes’ drive), along with rockpools and a shipwreck to seek out (climb over the rocks at low tide to see if you can spot the prop shaft poking out of the ground at Albion Sands).

Surf types flock to the waves of Newgale (20 minutes) and Whitesands (35 minutes); sea kayaks can be hired at both for those who’d prefer to paddle along the coastline. Nolton Stables (10 minutes) is the place for both beginner riding lessons and surfside cantering, and various outfits in St Davids (half an hour) can hook you up with aquatic adventures like coasteering and paddleboarding.

St Davids is a fab place for a more gentle wander too (the cathedral and Bishop’s Palace are both worth a look), and is the jumping-off point for boat trips to Grassholm and Ramsey islands – keep your peepers peeled for whales, dolphins, seals and puffins, depending on the time of year.

Must see

  • Pembrokeshire Coast National Park (13.7 kilometers)
  • St Davids Cathedral (16.4 kilometers)
  • Pembroke Castle (16.5 kilometers)
