  • Peaceful handmade glamping pods on the Llŷn Peninsula
  • Five minutes' drive from Aberdaron beach; half an hour from Pwllheli
  • Your own woodburner and ensuite; separate area with mains electricity
Peaceful and nicely placed for peninsula pottering – Pencaerau Pods is a smart Gwynedd glamping site almost at the western tip of the Llŷn Peninsula, half an hour's drive from Pwllheli. Aim for this amiable site five minutes' drive from Aberdaron to bed down in a handmade wooden pod that’s been kitted out with lots of handy features, including a woodburning stove to keep the place cosy and solar-powered lights. Each pod has one double pull-out sofa bed and a small double bed, as well as an ensuite toilet and shower room, so no dashing around in your nightie or jimjams here (unless you really want to…). There's a sizeable outdoor table on which to serve up your barbecued dinner or your fish and chips; acquire the necessaries for either spread in Aberdaron. It’s also a mighty fine place to pour out a drink or two and chill while the small sorts scramble about at the little play area (right by the pod so you can safely spy on them). Keep your refrigerated goods stored in your fridge, which is kept in a separate private area for each pod away from the main units; these areas also have electricity points for charging devices and plugging in hair dryers. Finally, prise your good self away from the pod to poke about on the peninsula, scooting down to Aberdaron for beach days and boat trips to Bardsey Island or aiming east for more beaches, National Trust visits and many a day of cracking coastal walk.

What customers say

Pods offer a clean, well-equipped, and comfy stay in a peaceful, beautiful spot, a short drive from Aberdaron and beaches. Guests loved the cozy pods, great amenities like the games room, secure sheds with fridges, and hot showers. Perfect for relaxing or exploring, with room for kids and dogs. While most found the pods spotless, one July 2025 review mentioned a cleanliness issue, which the manager resolved with new fly measures and a reconfirmation of cleaning standards. Finding the spot can occasionally be tricky.

Camping pod

Liked A beautiful, peaceful spot at the bottom of the Llŷn Peninsular. Pods well equipped with kitchen things and a fire for the colder months. Children loved the wide, open space to run around outside and the Love you loved the games room too. So many lovely beaches to explore nearby. A short drive down to Aberdaron where there’s a lovely beach, restaurants and a shop.

Disliked Would have been nice to have a bit more shade during the hot weather.

Camping pod

Liked Wonderful location, amazing facilities and a spotless pod. A last minute booking and an amazing surprise at how good the accomodation was, larger pod than expected, and a great field and games room for the kids. Couldn't have had a better place to stay. I had absolutely no phone signal, which helped make the stay super relaxing.

Disliked Sat nav postcode didn't quite get us to the right spot.

Camping pod

Liked Just returned from a 4 day stay in the Pencaerau pods with my husband and 8yr old. We were pleasantly surprised with the space and well thought out pod to store all our bits and bobs. The pods were really clean and had a handy outside area for a fridge and electrical charging points. The games room was a fab addition for evening games and the outdoor space for kids to run around. My daughter loved looking at the sheep in the next door field.
We were very lucky with the weather and the pod was a great base to explore all the local areas. We look forward to coming back, hopefully soon.

Liked Really enjoyed our 2 nighy stay..cabin was clean, knowing that there was a stove in the cabin I brought my own fire lighters and kindling but on arrival I found that there was already a starter pack there for free with extra wood available for £2 if you ran out.. also I brought with me my own bbq, but again a bbq was already provided to use… everything you need was provided

Disliked My dog barking at the sheep in the next field,,

Camping pod

Liked We loved the rural, peaceful location of the pods and the space for the kids to run around safely in the grounds. Pod had everything we needed and had a comfortable stay. Some lovely beaches/villages between 10 - 30 minute drive away (car definitely needed) and we really enjoyed our short break. Also made good use of the fridge/freezer provided in a separate shed which was great!

Local attractions

It's the beaches that draw most folk to this part of the world – if that's the case for your good self, take a tour starting on the sands at Aberdaron or hauling your surfboard to Porth Neigwl (aka Hell’s Mouth, 20 minutes' drive). The squeaky sands (yes, really) of Whistling Sands are 15 minutes' drive away, and Porthdinllaen is 25 minutes away – worth the trip for a seaside drink in the famed Tŷ Coch Inn. Various watersports centres are dotted along the coastline, particularly in Pwllheli (half an hour): kayaking, paddleboarding and windsurfing are all among the offerings here. To have a go at wakeboarding before you hit the waves, get over to Glasfryn Parc (35 minutes’ drive), where there’s also go-karting, archery and other kid-friendly antics. Looking for laidback days? Take your binoculars for some birdwatching at Porth Meudwy (15 minutes) or head to Plas yn Rhiw (10 minutes) for a walk that takes in the National Trust manor house and gardens before heading off in search of a neolithic burial chamber.
