What customers say
Superb Snowdonia location with mountain views, great for hikers. Staff are friendly & helpful. Good value, with decent basic facilities incl. a drying room. Hilly terrain means some pitches aren't flat. Showers had mixed reviews on cleanliness/payment. Close to Llanberis & Snowdon paths.

Liked We were able to choose own pitch on arrival, stunned by the Beautiful surroundings.
Quite hilly but good workout upto the reception where there is a really handy charging unit including microwave and fridge/freezer.
Wash rooms for utensils and toilet/shower block.
Enjoyed a 10 minute walk to the lake and enjoyed pizza, burgers and fish and chip picnic!!! All reasonably priced!
Allowed to have camp fire and bought some mystical fire powder which made the flames an array of colour which the kids loved!

OK if you're on a budget, but you'll be more comfortable elsewhere
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Close proximity to the start of the Llanberis path, if making at attempt to summit Snowdon. Also within walking distance to the sherpa bus for other paths, and many shops, restaurants and cafes. Toilets were kept clean. There is a a nice warm facilities room, which was unexpected. Helpful staff at check-in who took the time to explain the best ways to get to and from Snowdon. Zero tolerance towards antisocial behaviour.
Disliked The pitches are poorly maintained. Very overgrown, which makes getting a vehicle moving when it's wet almost impossible. We had to tow another camper whose SUV got stuck. The campsite is on a hill so flat pitches are few and far between, which made cooking and sleeping extremely difficult and uncomfortable.
The showers were very temperamental. I don't begrudge contributing a pound to use them as I can empathise with the costs involved of running a campsite in North Wales, but the showers should at least be good. The pressure was weak even on the high setting, the water comes out boiling hot so I nudged the dial down slightly and it became cold. The only way to get the hot water back was to turn the shower off and on again. I had to do this several times and gave up.
There is also a £1 charge per 8 minutes of tumble dryer use (which is not enough time to dry anything) and the same for the microwave, although 8 minutes of microwave use is reasonable. This doesn't really bother me as the campsite was advertised as "back to basics" so wasn't expecting a dryer or a microwave, but it's worth noting for future campers.

From the manager: The grass was cut two weeks ago - during this time of year, it's extremely difficult to cut the grass regularly and safely as there's always people around and tents on the fields. The best comment I've had recently is on how handy the grass is as extra comfort under the tent!
Yes - we are situated at the foot of Snowdon in a very hilly area but there are ample flat spaces if you take your time to have a look around.
The showers units have all just been changed (a few weeks ago) so there are no actual issues with the showers. There is a note on the fascias to leave on ECO mode to avoid temperature fluctuations. If you have trouble with the showers or anything else on site, please just ask at reception - we are always happy to help.
Yes the water pressure isn't as good as a mains water supply that you would be used to as we are on a private 'off grid' water supply. When all showers/ sinks/ toilets are in use, the pressure will naturally drop.
Great facilities, careful when paying...
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Great, just what we wanted - a field to camp in with nearby shower / toilet facilities. Nice car park with a reception area.
Really close to multiple snowdon trails, waterfalls, lake and the town. Overall great area to camp!
There were readily set up rock campfire spaces however we didn't get to use it due to the weather.
Disliked Just be careful when you're paying at the reception... Definitely keep a receipt... Just in case.

From the manager: Thank you for your kind comments.
However the paying comment is a bit misleading and will need addressing for future customers-
Two members of one group paid separately for the same booking.
There was absolutely no issue with refunding one transaction to rectify the situation but we obviously needed the evidence that there were two payments made before refunding as it's not something that has happened before.
One payment was fully refunded once the card details were eventually given correctly. All card details given by one member were not matching any transactions for the day as Apple Pay encrypts card details - which they were not aware of.
Relaxed and friendly site with stunning views
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Amazing views and close to Llanberis for convenience. Lots of space as not very busy so we found a flat pitch. Close to Llanberis path for walking. Sheep wandering around were fun to watch.
Disliked If its busy and especially if you have a large tent, you will probably struggle to find a flat pitch.

Beautiful location and chilled site for walkers
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Absolutely beautiful location with views over to Snowdon and direct access to the Llanberis path up the mountain.
Disliked Facilities were down a very steep slope, were limited in number and temperamental showers had to be paid for (£1 for 8 minutes)

Good clean site. Clear views of surrounding mountains, beautiful
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Friendly staff, clean facilities. This is mainly aimed as a weekend stop site for people climbing Snowdon.
Disliked The slope. Campsite is on a hill side and there is virtually no flat ground. I think our tent was about 8 inches sloping from front to back by some tents defied gravity and people must of rolled out of their beds.

Overall, amazing campsite probably the best i’ve visited in the area!
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Great, quiet campsite. Lovely views, great location, all the necessary facilities and such a chill staff.
Disliked Only downsides are the road up to the campsite being rough.
