  • Friendly Eryri/Snowdonia site on the banks of the River Glaslyn
  • Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon Watkin Path five minutes’ drive away
  • Beddgelert’s cafés, pubs and railway station less than a mile away
What a gorgeous spot for a break in the fresh air of Eryri/Snowdonia National Park. With spectacular mountain views, Cae Du Campsite sits on the banks of the River Glaslyn less than a mile from pretty Beddgelert, a hub for walking trails with several pubs, cafés and craft shops. The village is also a stop on the narrow-gauge Welsh Mountain Railway running between Porthmadog and Caernarfon. What’s more, Yr Wyddfa/Mount Snowdon is just up the road, it’s five minutes’ drive to the Watkin Path trailhead and you’ll pass spectacular Llyn Dinas lake (wild swim anyone?) on the way. Tired after whichever outing you chose? There’s plenty of space to relax back at the park, and you should hopefully sleep well in these peaceful surroundings. A washing-up area, launderette and bathrooms with toilets and showers are on hand to make life comfortable, and you can bring a barbecue or light a campfire to finish your day in traditional camping style. Hire firepits (subject to availability) and buy logs, kindling and firelighters from reception between 9.30am and 5pm. And as the emphasis here is on total relaxation, Cae Du Campsite has a strict rule that music must be turned off and noise kept to a minimum after 9.30pm.

What customers say

This well-kept campsite boasts incredible mountain views and a tranquil vibe. Guests rave about the gorgeous setting and easy riverside stroll to Beddgelert village. Pitches are spacious, and facilities are clean, though a bit dated. Staff are friendly & helpful. Perfect for hikers with trails right from the site. WiFi's there, but cell service is weak. Some saw midges & a few found it pricey, but most loved it and want to return.

Powered grass campervan or tent campsite

Liked Absolutely beautiful location with stunning views in every direction.

Lovely walk in to the 'chocolate box' village where there are cafes and pubs.

The showers were powerful and a good temperature.
The WiFi was surprisingly good, for such a rural location.

Very quiet at night. Superb stargazing available with no light pollution.

Disliked Facilities are very 'functional'; felt a bit like an outdoor bounds centre of my youth. There were bugs everywhere and could do with deep clean in my opinion.

The facilities layout is a bit odd; the showers are on one side of a big building and the toilets on the opposite. This wasn't terrible but was unusual.

Could do with a children's playground.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked Lovely friendly staff, very clean toilets & shower blocks. It was easy to access & leave the site & the views were amazing. Having someone drive around periodically to keep an eye on things was brilliant. It ensured that people camping on their own felt safe.

Powered cement/asphalt and grass RV campsite

Liked Everything! This is a FANTASTIC campsite and we will definitely be back. Absolutely beautiful. Big spacious pitches, idyllic setting, friendly staff….. perfect!

Disliked We didn’t ‘dislike’ anything, it was perfect. To make it even better, it would be helpful if the campsite had a small shop - just to get bread and milk! Also we were very close to the toilets/showers, but if we were further away, it may have been an issue at night!

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked beautiful clean campsite with beautiful views

Disliked People kept cutting through our pitch to get to the loos which stressed our dog but not really the campsites fault. I think I'll ask to be less close next time. It is a little expensive.

Primitive grass tent campsite

Liked I booked non electric, grass pitch for a family of four, kids ten and eleven and two dogs.

- tent was right next to dog/river side walk.
-we were given an area but choose where we pitched.
-walkable distance from camp to village, lake, mines and snowdon etc. So no driving and parking.
-Parked next to pitch.
-quiet time rules eg music, no noise late night etc.
- separate family area for games so no games next to pitches.
- toilets and showers close by and clean never waiting for long.
-lovely staff and easy check in.
-good wifi

Overall a well kept lovely campsite. A variety of campers but staff ensure everyone every one is OK.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This is a really good, clean, well-managed site in an absolutely fantastic location. There's easy access for mountain walks and lake swimming, and the village of Beddgelert is very nearby for any forgotten essentials.

Disliked If you prefer a smaller more sociable site this might not be for you. And there aren't quite enough showers for the size of the site, especially as one of other block always seemed to be being cleaned at any given point in the morning.

Local attractions

Families can inspire their kids with a love of nature on a stroll along the Aberglaslyn Gorge straight from the campsite. Seasoned hikers might make for the start of the Watkin Path (five minutes’ drive), one of them more challenging routes up Yr Wyddfa/Mount Snowdon, or search out strenuous scrambles up Glyder Fawr (20 minutes). If you’re looking for more unusual activities, Zip World Llechwedd (35 minutes) will appeal with its zipwires and subterranean golf course. Perhaps that’s a bit too high octane for your offspring? Head for Llyn Dinas (15 minutes’ walk) for wild swimming and paddleboarding, or laze on the beach at Porthmadog (25 minutes). Slip a slice of Eryri heritage into your holiday with a wander around the museum at Sygun Copper Mine (five minutes’ walk, there’s a playground for younger kids too), or enjoy history-tinged meanders around the castles at Criccieth (25 minutes’ drive) and Caernarfon (half an hour). And don’t forget to pay your respects at Gelert’s Grave (15 minutes’ walk), the final resting place of a faithful dog once companion to the medieval Prince Llewelyn the Great.
