  • Friendly site on the edge of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park
  • A mile from Brecon town centre; 15 minutes' drive to Pen y Fan
  • Heated outdoor pool and sports field on site; restaurant next door
Just on the edge of the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) National Park, you’ll be in a splendid spot to explore when you stay at Bishops Meadow Holiday Park. This mid-sized Powys park is in a very handy location just over a mile from Brecon, so you’ll be able to walk into town in around 25 minutes, get the bus from the stop just outside or drive down there in just a few minutes. Taxis are also available for a fairly affordable rate if you fancy having a nice meal out or a few drinks in one of the town’s cosy pubs. That said, you won’t have to go all the way into town if you don’t fancy it, as this site just happens to be next door to one of the area’s most popular restaurants, specialising in big tasty burgers. Rather cook your own meals? You’re welcome to bring a barbecue along and pick up supplies at the shops in town; there are also various essentials for sale at the site’s shop (including ice creams for a sweet treat). This is a place that prides itself on its friendly atmosphere, with the staff doing their best to ‘make sure guests are having the nicest time possible’. Helping to contribute to that are the site’s facilities, which include a heated outdoor pool (open from mid-May to September), a play area, a dog-walking path and a field with football and rugby goalposts for those who’d like to get a game going. You’ll also have access to useful things like a launderette, a chemical disposal point, toilets and showers.

What customers say

Friendly, clean, well-kept site with great views and spacious spots. Helpful staff and heated pool are highlights. Nearby burger joint is a hit. Some mention the one washroom, but it's clean. Ideal for exploring Brecon and the Beacons.

Beautiful views, friendly staff and recommend you book to have a burger in the Brecon Hills, if not you can have drinks only lovely in the restaurant.
Only downside is there is only one toilet block for the whole site. They are cleaned and looked after. Definitely be coming back

Disliked Only one shower block for whole site but we managed

Liked We arrived here on the 12th June, with a touring caravan. Booking in was very quick and you were given all the information you needed to know. The young girl was very friendly and extremely helpful.

The pitch was a decent size and the views were fantastic.

The site is very clean and tidy. There is a heated pool on site, laundry room and also a small shop in the reception area.

The field is very big so children can run around freely and safe. There is also a park there for them.

There’s plenty of walks around the area also if you want to walk your dogs or check out the scenery.

We walked into Brecon town which took us around 20mins and caught the bus back up who cost us £3 for the two of us.

The Hills Brecon burger place is also next door. We didn’t try this, but heard it’s very nice.

The owners are very friendly and very helpful. They are often driving around should you need to ask any questions.

I would recommend 100% and would definitely return. Currently looking to book our next trip.

Liked Super friendly and helpful with my late arrival, made to feel very welcome. The grass pitch I booked was in the edge of a lush wild flower meadow with stunning views of the Brecon Beacons and as if by magic, when I parked up, the rain stopped, the sunshine poured down instead with a gorgeous rainbow. Wish I had longer to enjoy the site :)

Local attractions

Brecon is a fairly small town, but it’s got plenty for the visitor – you may like to pay a visit to the cathedral, see the Royal Welsh Regimental Museum or explore the handful of art galleries here. There are also some lovely walks from town along the banks of the River Usk or the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, and shows and concerts at Theatr Brycheiniog. The area around the town is packed with outdoor activities, including fishing, horse riding, mountain biking and watersports; the best way to find out about all of these is to ask site staff or consult the information folder in the office. Of course the national park has walks galore too, including the popular Four Waterfalls Walk (half an hour’s drive away) and the ascent of Pen y Fan (15 minutes). Other outings nearby might take you to an alpaca walk with Alpaca My Boots (15 minutes), a trip underground at the National Showcaves Centre for Wales (half an hour) or to learn about the past at Big Pit National Coal Museum (45 minutes).
