Want to feel the sand between your toes without finding it in every nook and cranny later on? Brynawelon Caravan and Camping Park, half a mile from the village of Sarnau in west Wales, is the best of both worlds. While away the day on Penbryn beach, two miles away, then return to the blessedly sand-free site. Brynawelon is well placed for exploring the Ceridigion countryside and the Welsh coast: walkers can join the Wales Coastal Path, which passes Penbryn beach and spans the length of the Ceridigion coastline and beyond, or follow trails and loops around Cardigan, 20 minutes' drive away. For a more urban experience, stop off in the town of Cardigan where there's plenty to do, like visiting the medieval Cilgerran Castle or shopping at the Guildhall Market. When you want to spend time on the sand, Penbryn isn’t your only option – Aberport, Tresaith and Llangranog beaches are all within 10 minutes’ drive, and are top spots for swimming and surfing. Brynawelon is in a quiet coastal area, but you don’t have to feel stranded. In Sarnau, less than 10 minutes’ walk from the site, you can stock up on camping gear at the army surplus store or call in to the farm shop to pick up some Welsh delicacies. For any other essentials, a quick trip to Brynhoffnant village one mile away should take care of everything.

Guests love the shop, borrow shed with games/DVDs, and great sea views. Fresh herbs a nice touch. Minor notes: dated shower cubicles, preference for electricity included. Liked Lovely campsite with colourful buildings and plants. Very clean and tidy and whole area very well kept. Great friendly host Karen who was helpful and explained everything in detail. The pitches were spacious and well laid out, some with a view of the sea. Toilets and showers were clean and tidy. Dish washing facilities were clean and well laid out and you had the option of a washing machine and tumble dryer as well.

Disliked Although showers were clean and tidy they were a little dated and the cubicles were quite small.

Liked Really nice camp site. Shame we only had one night here would have liked to stayed longer. Quiet, lots of space around us, nice facilities. Host was very friendly made us feel very welcome.

Liked well kept site, all kept immaculately clean including the toilet and showers. Plenty of showers, never a wait. Couple of the shower rooms have an added toilet and sink which is perfect. Nice to not have coin operated showers Beach within walking distance. Lovely colourful buildings. Library with DVD's and CD's.
Karen and Brian have obviously put a lot of work into the site and still do with the upkeep.

Disliked would have preferred to have electricity included in the cost but having said that we only used £15 for the week, made me a little anxious about over using though. Extra costs were a over publicised around the site.
I have since read there is a games room, something i wasn't aware of whilst we were there.
Did get the feeling from the charges posters etc that money is the main incentive of the owners, i feel it could be toned down a little.
Would have been nice to have an information folder with details of local restaurants, public transport, walks, local shops, nearest big supermarkets etc. No wifi and we couldn't get a signal on our mobiles so couldn't obtain this information ourselves.

Liked Beautiful well kept camp site. Such a friendly welcome. Stunning flowers and colourful painted buildings. The bathrooms were spotless. Well kept grounds. The little pub on site had pool table and darts. The shop was well equipped and had lots of supplies. I could not fault our stay. And wish we could have stayed longer. Soooo peaceful and quiet too and close to the local beach llangrannog. Thank you so much for a lovely little holiday. Ruth and Jacob. X

Liked Well laid out pitches with choice of full service pitches or basic pitches on hard standings which we had. Best part of pitches are quite large and loads of space between caravans .The entrance is beautifully decorated with loads of flowers and herbs.

Disliked Paying for electric in advance on a card which meant you are continually watching how much you are using.Would prefer if the pitch fees was a little dearer instead.

If you want history with a twist, pay a visit to one of the unusual museums in the area. At the Internal Fire museum, less than five minutes away by car, see one of the oldest working diesel engines in the world. Follow the flock to the National Wool Museum and see the story of wool from fleece to fabric or embrace your inner child at the Museum of Childhood, both 20 minutes from Brynawelon. Experience a statelier time and take in the views of the Ceridigion countryside with a trip on one of the steam trains at Gwili Railway, Teifi Valley Railway or the Vale of Rheidol Railway, all within 45 minutes of the site. When the kids get tired of steam trains and toys (how could they, you ask…), bring them to Cardigan Island Coastal Farm Park, where they can get up close with friendly farm animals and try to spot dolphins, seals and skylarks in the nature reserve. For an even sweeter experience, buzz on over to the Honey Farm in New Quay – 10 miles from Brynawelon – where you can visit the meadery, see the bees at work and have a seat in the tearoom to taste the end result. Buy honey, mead and beeswax products in the farm shop before you leave.
