  • Award-winning park in a wooded valley and wildlife haven
  • Within 15 minutes' drive of Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Croyde Bay
  • Play parks overlooking gardens and lake
If life’s little stresses are getting you down, flee and hide away in this award-winning park in a Devon wooded valley. From your doorstep at Hidden Valley Park all the highlights of north Devon are within easy reach: the famed beaches of Ilfracombe, Woolacombe and Croyde Bay are no more than 15 minutes' drive away, and family days out at The Big Sheep are about half an hour from the site. But this pretty place is so secluded you'll feel like the world outside doesn’t even exist (which is always a win…). There's no need to leave the grounds until you're fully perked up, with plenty of peaceful options including wandering along the stream running through the park, lazing about the lakeside area, or taking a woodland walk to spot kingfishers and otters. Take a tramp through the forest then come back to relax around the gardens and lake – there’s wifi access too so you can load up your phone/tablet and studiously avoid catching up on work. Which is also a win… Kids and dogs can hide away too, as there are two play parks for the youngsters and the park is dog-friendly. Amenities include luxury shower and toilet blocks with hairdryers and underfloor heating, full disabled facilities, a reception with tourist information, a licensed shop and a launderette. Once it’s time to venture off site, a bus stop is just outside the entrance to the park.

What customers say

A lovely, clean, wooded site with a stream. Spacious pitches, great modern facilities. Friendly staff. Some road noise, but not too bad. Play area could use a refresh, WiFi costs extra. Good value restaurant/shop.

Power optional gravel travel trailer campsite (large)

Liked A peaceful site with great amenities and space. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Perfect for couples, families and those with pets who don't mind getting back in the car to get to any of the wonderful local beaches.

Disliked We could hear the road traffic from our pitch, although this was only slight and we were in the closest row of pitches to the road.

Power optional gravel travel trailer campsite (small)

Liked We stayed here for 3 nights. A large campsite with a good range of pitch options. Good location (no narrow roads to get there) We had plenty of space - both grassy and hard standing, water supply and metered electric hook up. The reception team were very helpful. Toilets and showers were immaculate and the site was well organised for waste disposal. A nice cafe/bistro on site which sadly was not serving hot food during our visit as we picked the nights the chef was off! Plenty of space and marked trails to walk the dog!

Power optional grass travel trailer, tent or trailer tent campsite (premium)

Liked Beautiful setting, sunny and good shade too for tents, lovely, safe, stream to play in too. Good facilities on site, clean showers/toilets, always hot water! EV chargers x 2 incredibly convenient.

Safe one way system for cars so felt safe with children on bikes. Premium pitches very large and low level hedges

Power optional grass travel trailer, tent or trailer tent campsite (large)

Liked We really enjoyed our stay here. The pitches were spacious, flat and clean. Water points at every pitch is also fantastic addition. Facilities were clean and well maintained. Good shop, restaurant catered for gluten-free and allowed dogs. Woodland walks were great and the little stream allowed fun for all.

Disliked Nothing major. We did ask if the disabled toilet could be opened a couple of times and they were going to investigate. It never seemed to open but we were able to use the mother and child cubicle instead. We did originally feel a little guilty for this but tried to use it when it wasn't needed by others. We needed this for space so I could help my wife shower.

Liked Really god facilities. Lovely to walk the dogs in an hours woodland walk (kids slow us down). Lovely stream for kids to play in. Good restaurant! Handy shop with kids toys and colouring and odd camping bits you might need!
We will definitely be attending again!

Disliked Could improve one of the kids playgrounds as the equipment was mostly broken but the second playground was fab!

Most of the staff were amazing but watch out as one grumpy lady works there! Or I might have catched her on a bad day! Lol

Local attractions

Hidden Valley is four miles from two of Devon’s best-known beaches, Woolacombe and Ilfracombe, five miles from the surfing mecca of Croyde Bay and six from a family day out at the beach of Saunton Sands. The areas around all these are well worth a look, but the Victorian harbour town of Ilfracombe is a must for bucketloads of boat trips such as punts out to nearby Lundy Island, the seafront with the Landmark Theatre, and St Nicholas Chapel on Lantern Hill, where a light has shone over the harbour for over a thousand years. Bring a torch for a walk to the Ilfracombe Museum and Tunnels beach, reached by tunnels through the cliff. Many family attractions close by for all weathers, including Exmoor Zoo (25 minutes' drive) and The Big Sheep (30 minutes), while sprogs will probably also like spotting ponies in the Exmoor wilderness, getting creeped out in the dungeon labyrinths of Watermouth Castle (20 minutes) or taking to the skies in the rides at the Milky Way Adventure Park, 45 minutes away at Bideford.
