Liked I liked the showers and the place was clean
Disliked Play ground should be more optional and there was no general waste.

From the manager: Thank you for the review. We’re glad you liked the showers and found the site clean.
The play area in the photo is our little toddler corner, not the main playground. The actual play area is at the top of the field and has two trampolines, swings, a seesaw and a zip line, so there is rather more to it than one small plastic slide looking slightly lost in the grass.
As for general waste, we don’t have a landfill collection, apart from nappies and dog poo. Everything else is sorted into the clearly labelled recycling bins. This is explained on our website, booking confirmations and signs around the site.
Sadly, Pitchup’s automated emails are written by Pitchup, not by us. If we controlled them, they would be considerably clearer and probably slightly less boring.
Thank you awesomely Kate
Little Gem of a place will come again
Primitive grass campervan or tent campsite
Liked Desperate for a last minute site driving from Yorkshire to Cornwall so dropped on this site by chance. Lovely sustainable site, loads of space, kids playground is one of the best, very dog friendly. it has all we needed. The pub 2 mins walk away was good.
Disliked Nothing to dislike for £31 a night for far reaching views. Some of the negative reviews for this place totally not our experience.

From the manager: Thank you so much for the lovely review. We’re very glad your last minute dash from Yorkshire to Cornwall landed you with us rather than somewhere involving regimented rows, fluorescent lighting and a man in a golf buggy enforcing silence.
We’re especially pleased the children enjoyed the playground, the dog approved and the pub did its job.
As for the negative reviews, we’ve always suspected some people arrive expecting Center Parcs and are then startled to discover fields, views and actual countryside.
We’d be delighted to welcome you back.
Best Wishes
Kate

Liked Lovely little spot where the hosts leave you to it (in a good way!) I really loved the way everything felt very relaxed. It began with being able to just roll into the field and pick a spot that suited us, followed by a totally fuss-free check-in process, sign your name and reg to say you’d arrived. When I did see staff they were incredibly friendly and polite, but you were mostly left alone which I personally really liked. There was clear signage telling us everything we needed to know. Toilet facilities all very clean, delicious affordable fry up in the morning, site extremely spacious and quiet at night. Haven’t slept that well in a long time! I didn’t need anything as we were only staying one night, but they have a handy little shop where you can scan a QR code to pay for any bits you’ve forgotten. Again, all very affordable with instant noodles for a quid or two if you fancy a midnight snack! Don’t worry theres even a kettle in there as well. Wouldn’t hesitate to come back - thank you.
Disliked Now this one isn’t their fault at all, but the campsite is a little tricky to get to. Prepare for some very narrow, hilly and overgrown roads.

From the manager: Thank you so much for such a lovely review. You’ve described exactly what we’re trying to do here: arrive, pick a spot, sign in, relax and avoid unnecessary clipboard enthusiasm.
We’re really pleased you found everything clean, spacious and peaceful, enjoyed the breakfast and made good use of the little shop. The kettle has prevented many a late night noodle related crisis.
And yes, the final approach is very Devon. Narrow, hilly and occasionally designed to make you question whether the sat nav has finally turned against you. Thankfully, the views at the end make up for it.
We’d be delighted to welcome you back.
Thank you muchly Kate

From the manager: Thank you so much. Reviews like this genuinely mean the world to us.
Knowing your boys have grown up making happy camping memories here is exactly why we keep doing it, despite the weather, the brambles and the occasional piece of campsite equipment choosing violence.
It’s always lovely to welcome you back and we hope there are many more stays and memories still to come.
Thank you muchly Kate

Beautiful get away from it all kind of place. Perfect.

Liked Beautiful view, quiet site with basic facilities but everything you need, and a well stocked shop. I appreciated the kettle and microwave as I came on my bicycle with no stove, so I could have tea and porridge in the morning. Close to a pub and pretty village. I like sites like these!
