What customers say

Highly recommended campsite with hotel-quality washrooms. Friendly hosts, farm animals, and beautiful rural views are big hits. Plenty of space for kids and farm produce available. Note: some fields are sloping.

Drovers shepherd's hut (hot tub)

Liked Absolutely beautiful, welcoming and cosy little place, and only a short drive away from so many local beaches and attractions. Our family of 5 loved it, especially the opportunity to feed the farm animals with the farmer and the gorgeous hot tub overlooking all the fields, with the sound of the little stream behind the Hut as a lovely bonus.

Disliked A cover over the patio and hot tub area would have been perfect since we picked the wettest weekend of the summer to visit 😂 but it didn't stop us from hot tubbing in the rain!

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Beautiful setting, not too busy - despite being bank holiday weekend, plus piglets, chickens and a ram for the children to look at and feed every morning at 9-10am. Helpful, friendly owners who are patient with the children and explain what they do as a working farm. Able to light an open fire on the field with a hand dug fire pit using logs from the farm. Wonderful dark night sky for star-gazing. My daughter absolutely loved it.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Lovely views & beautiful sky at night. Very relaxed campsite. Nice walk to the reservoir via the fields. We also walked to the Fox & Goose at Parrocombe....this did involve a short walk along a very busy road with no pavement.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Very much enjoyed our stay. The campsite is in a beautiful location with incredibly dark skies at night (perfect for stargazing). Loved being able to have a campfire. Showers etc were warm and clean. Will definitely come again if we're in the area.

Andy O.

Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Really friendly environment, the shower and laundry room was very clean and constantly cleaned during the day.
You could choose where you wanted to pitch your tent instead of being issued a spot.

My boys loved the animals and collecting eggs.
The location is very close to a lot of day trip places such as the wildlife and dinosaurs at coombe Martin.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review Andy! We are glad you all had a lovely time and the boys enjoyed the animals. We hope to see you all again sometime in the future :)

Local attractions

Weeks' worth of adventures and attractions start in two directions from the farm: Blackmore Gate and the entrance to Exmoor National Park are under a mile to the north west, and spectacular north Devon beaches, surfing and other watersports are accessible from Combe Martin and beyond, 10 minutes' drive away. The kids will probably clamour for the beach first, so take them to the three splendid Victorian seaside towns close by: Combe Martin, Ilfracombe and Woolacombe (possibly have a separate day for each as there's loads to see and do). At Combe Martin, the dino express, animatronic dinosaurs, meerkats and animal experiences of Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park should prove a monster hit; Ilfracombe is particularly famed for its Tunnels beaches and its harbour, and Woolacombe is the most famed north Devon spot for surfing. And then to Exmoor… access it within walking distance to stride off over the moor, or drive in to reach the closest information centre, Lynmouth (15 minutes), and gather armfuls on info on Exmoor's hiking, horse riding, events, wildlife and towns and villages. In the other direction from the park, it's a mile's walk to the boating, birdwatching, trout fishing and nature spotting of Wistlandpound reservoir, and 15 minutes' drive to a day's shopping and sightseeing at Barnstaple. The team also recommends Arlington Court and the National Trust Carriage Museum (10 minutes), and, further afield at 45 minutes, the famed RHS gardens at Rosemoor.
