  • Well-maintained pitches five minutes’ walk from Porthleven, Cornwall
  • A 10-minute drive to Helston Railway; 15 minutes to Marazion
  • On-site pub; five minutes’ walk to the beach and South West Coast Path
A family-run touring caravan and campsite located about 500 meters from the centre of the historic fishing village of Porthleven, Mill Lane Campsite is a dog-friendly spot with generous-sized, level pitches and plenty of space for all the family. The campsite is a five-minute walk from Porthleven beach, famous as one of Cornwall’s best reef breaks (are you listening, surfers?). It’s also five minutes to the South West Coast Path, making this a great base for long-distance hikers too. Porthleven village hosts the award-winning Food Festival in July, but you can eat in quirky cafes, traditional pubs or fine-dining restaurants – all serving fresh, seasonal food – any time of year. Pick up foodie supplies in the local shops – including delicious Cornish pasties – and there’s a handy supermarket too. And there’s no need to fret about keeping everyone entertained in the evenings. The on-site free house sells the world-famous Cornish ale Spingo, brewed in Helston (10 minutes’ drive), so adults are never far away from a refreshment. For the kids, there’s a pool table in the pub, as well as sport on the big screen and live music throughout the year. Bingo fans can play every Friday evening at 7pm with cash prizes.

What customers say

A prime spot, a short, flat stroll to Porthleven harbour, shops & amenities. Campers love the friendly staff, clean, spacious pitches, & great showers. The pub's a hit! Some facilities are dated, but upgrades are happening. Road noise can be heard on lower fields.

Liked Great small site within easy walking distance of Porthleven. Lovely countryside setting with bats, owls, and other wildlife for company.
Facilities are great - lush hot showers and clean toilets.
I really didn’t want to leave the peacefulness and return to real life.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Location to the harbour was great. A flat walk of about 5 minutes. The site was clean and spacious and the showers were well thought out with somewhere to hang clothes and toiletries.

Disliked Would have liked to have known our pitch number prior to arriving, but contact was easy on arrival.

FHU cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Great location for Porthleven which is a lovely place and walking distance from the site. Large gravel/grass pitches. Didn't use the onsite pub so can't comment.

Disliked Poorly maintained. Good showers but rarely cleaned and always dirty on the floor of the cubicles. Ladies toilet floors were the same, dirty, and one of the 3 cubicles had no light. No lights in gents toilet cubicles and loose handle on entry door. The gravel/grass pitches could be better maintained as grass growing in amongst the gravel. No real customer service or communication.

Liked Close to Porthleven. Owls calling in the night.

Disliked Noisy road running past. Changed my pitch number on the day of arrival and was put on number 11. This was sloping down to the fence and I have a large trailer tent. Asked if I could change but the answer was no despite the field only being half full. They told me to bring it forward a few meters in to the field which worked but it restricted access to the adjacent pitch. Field was max half full all week so can’t understand why they refused to let me move pitch to something flat.

Liked Very clean! Shower block was lovely.
We had a quick drink at the bar onsite, the staff were so friendly :)
The site is very flat and the walk into Porthleven was just a stroll and flat too, a bonus for my arthritic knee and FND!
We will be going back to stay for even longer!

Local attractions

If you’re keen to get out on the water, Porthleven beach (five minutes’ walk) is a fantastic surfing spot, and you can take coastal cruises (try one at dusk for spectacular sunset views) or sea-fishing trips from Porthleven harbour (10 minutes). Meanwhile, at Marazion (15 minutes’ drive) it’s a short hop across the bay to the crag-top castle and gardens at Mount St Michael. Also nearby you could take a ride on the vintage trains of Helston Railway (10 minutes), or splash in the sea at sheltered Gunwalloe Church Cove Beach (20 minutes). There are plenty of family-friendly hikes along the Lizard Heritage Coast (both 20 minutes) and lots of seabirds to spot along the way. And there’s masses of art and culture in these parts too; the galleries and museums of St Ives (30 minutes) warrant a day’s attention, and there are rare plants and wacky artworks to be seen in Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens (20 minutes).
