  • Family-friendly Cornish holiday park on Trevose Head
  • A 15 minute-drive from Padstow and half an hour from Newquay
  • Diner, bar and entertainment on site; sandy beaches 20 minutes' walk
With its lighthouse, stunning coastal walks and gorgeous sandy beaches, Trevose Head is something like the Cornish coast in miniature. If you're looking for seaside capers in this area with your nearest and dearest, Harlyn Sands Holiday Park could well be the place. Those coastal strolls and sandy beaches are within walking distance of this park, making it a top-notch spot for a seaside break. The site is family-run and works hard to be a welcoming spot for you and your tribe. Younger kids are well served here, as there's a play area, TV and games rooms and kids' club to keep them happily occupied. In the evening, there are special events for all to enjoy (and a bar is on hand for mums and dads who fancy a nightcap after the show). Harlyn Sands is also a handy kind of place: there's a food shop on site should you need to stock up on essentials. Barbecues are allowed for alfresco dining, but you may prefer to skip the cooking and head to The Diner for a sit-down meal, or pick up a takeaway from the site's chippy. If you need a supermarket, take a 15-minute drive down the road to Padstow. The site makes no secret of the fact that it caters mostly to families (furry friends included), so teens need to be mindful that they don't stay out too late or disturb the peace.

What customers say

Harlyn Sands Holiday Park has a great location near beautiful beaches, with friendly, helpful staff. Families loved the excellent entertainment and on-site amenities. While facilities are generally clean, some found them a bit dated and crowded during peak season. Shower facilities and pool costs were noted as areas for improvement.

Liked Great sized pitches, pool is perfect for families, and the evening entertainment & bingo was enjoyed by all. The site felt a little dated but was clean and maintained. Short walk to the most wonderful beach, and close to Padstow and Newquay by car. A great location!

Disliked The only downside to our trip was the weather which cannot be helped! It would be helpful if the food outlet stayed open slightly later too (especially as it closed before the kids entertainment finished)

Liked Proximity to the coast, clean facilities and friendly employees.

Disliked Pitches a little close together for our preferences. The takeaway food wasn't the best.

Liked Spacious pitches and pleasant staff. Indoor pool, play area, clubhouse, shop and fish and chips shop on site and a beach within walking distance. The camp felt safe and was generally friendly.

Disliked You had to pay 20p for 3 mins worth of shower time. The water pressure wasn't great and you had to give the water a chance to get hot. It was too hot for my 10 yr old with no ability to turn it up or down. The facilities were very tired and only one toilet block on site. Luckily we weren't too far away, but some pitches are quite the walk away.
Washing machines/dryers were cash only and were £4 and £3 respectively for short cycles.
The oil in the fish&chips shop smelt old and the clubhouse/restaurant was a bit grimy.

Liked Every member of staff was friendly and welcoming. Pitches have plenty of space and not too far from toilets or pool. The pool was the highlight. So clean and warm. Excellent showers in there too.
Showers are lovely and clean and hot. 2 x 20p is enough. Loved the children's Bingo.
Reception staff outstanding especially Andy.

Disliked Food wasn't serviced late enough. I felt very sorry for a single mum, two kids and nanny who arrived late and was turned away at 7:55pm when they said food stopped at 8pm. Chip shop hardly open. No wifi in club house.

Liked Spacious pitches - we had an end pitch so a little more space. Lovely & flat, perfect for kiddies with bikes. Park, swimming pool, entertainment, shop, arcade everything you need for families. Shame the weather was so windy - storm Dave. Will defo stay again in the future

Disliked The road /country lane coming in and out of the site proved a little tricky & tight at times, with cars/caravans/vans coming from both directions with no one able to move. People having to get out of cars & get cars to reverse back 😳

Liked Plenty of space, great pitches with electric and water at ease, really friendly vibes with great access to the coast. We loved our stay

Disliked Had to pay to use the swimming pool and to shower, why not just include this in the price of the stay.

Local attractions

Folk in search of some beach time have come to the right spot, as Harlyn Bay and Constantine Bay can both be reached within 20 minutes on foot. Guarded by the RNLI between May and September, these splendid stretches of sand are hubs for snorkellers and swimmers, and each has its own surf school – mighty handy if you want to learn to board in a safe environment. Padstow (15 minutes' drive) is a fishing town that's quite a draw for foodies seeking fresh, locally sourced products. Whether you fancy good old fish and chips or Michelin-starred dining, you can be pretty sure you'll find it here. Newquay, a major surf resort, is half an hour away. As well as the seafront, head here for buccaneering adventures at Pirate's Quest activity centre, or get up close and personal with marine life at the Blue Reef Aquarium. Just up the coast from Newquay (40 minutes from base) is Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm, home to both fine scrumpy and cute cuddly farm animals. The South Cornwall coast is also within easy reach: drive 40 minutes down through the countryside if you fancy a trip to the Eden Project or St Austell.
