  • Family-friendly site with fishing lakes 15 minutes’ drive from Newquay
  • Mawgan Porth five minutes’ drive; Springfield Fun Park 15 minutes
  • Children’s playground; resident farm animals; farm shop; launderette
Be sure to pack your trusted rod for your stay at Penvose Farm Holidays, a working farm on the edge of Cornwall Airport Newquay, with four coarse fishing lakes. And the best thing (or one of the best things, at least) about staying here is that your loved ones will also have plenty to keep them occupied while you sit by the water, waiting for carp and perch to bite, your canine friend snoozing gently by your side. (There is a small fee for dogs, but they are welcome here, provided they are well behaved around the livestock.) A children’s playground has a wooden climbing structure, swings and slides; the large grassy meadow is also a top spot for riding a bike or kicking a ball around. Then, of course, there’s the spectacular beaches of North Cornwall. Within a short drive are Mawgan Porth (five minutes), a sheltered sandy triangle at the mouth of the River Menalhyl; and neighbouring Porth Beach and Newquay (both 15 minutes, separated by the rocky Glendorgal Headland). Rockpools line the former, set within a deep inlet, while Newquay is renowned for its surfing waves. The South West Coast Path runs along all of these beaches, and a clifftop hike might lead to vantage points with stunning sea views – or to traditional Cornish pubs where you can stop for refreshments. A small farm shop at the site sells bits and bobs for the barbecue; there are also several supermarkets within a 10-minute drive, not to mention heaps of restaurants in both Newquay and Padstow (25 minutes). Other amenities on site include hot showers, a launderette and a communal fridge freezer.

What customers say

This family-run spot gets kudos for roomy pitches, spotless facilities & helpful staff. Great for Cornwall exploring, it boasts a well-stocked farm shop & lovely vibe. A few guests found shower designs a bit quirky & Wi-Fi pricey. Occasional plane noise from the nearby airport, but most guests want to come back.

Liked Liked Leaving after only 1 night!
It was good watching the planes.
The farm shop was good.

Disliked We were literally in an unbowed tough field with cow oats at our pitch! Electric hook up wire passed over the hedge! Toilet and shower block were very dirty and shower spray rubbish. For £54 per night I expected much better. By far the worst campsite we have stayed on in Cornwall.

Liked Peaceful campsite, friendly staff and reasonable farm shop. Lovely to have the food van and Barista coffee van onsite most mornings too. Loved walking around the fishing lakes, very beautiful.

Disliked Shower heads need changing as the water sprays in every direction apart from on your head!

Would be really nice to have a map of the site issued on arrival so you know where all the amenities are and which pitch you are on.

Liked We love the family friendly environment. It's relaxed and peaceful. The children loved the freedom and playgrounds. My husband loves the fishing the walk around the lake is very tranquil. The farm shop has everything you need and the staff are helpful and friendly. The local area is naturally beautiful and provide plenty to keep you busy.

Disliked Sadly no wifi during our visit however I think this was an issue relating to a local festival as the qifi had been fine in previous visits.

Liked Great location. Friendly staff when we checked in. Relatively flat pitches. Its a farm campsite so expect a farm style campsite!
Child enjoyed seeing the airplanes regularly for neighbouring airport.

Disliked Toilets could use some improvements, 1 toilet not attached to wall in ladies.
Showers too could use updating, reminiscent of old style swimming bath showers, managing to soak almost all of the shower cubicle (including bench for dry towel/clothes).
Lots of spiders too - i know theyre natural but if you dont like spiders it could be a little alarming.
Lots of vacant, seasonal caravans close to facilities so lots of dark area to walk through at night which didnt always feel safest (although it did make for good star spotting)!

Liked Travelled with one teen and our neurodivergent daughter.....it was our FIRST time camping ever so chose this place because of the space and surroundings.
I was not disappointed.
Electric pitch in 20 acre field provided space and lovely sunset views....
Near enough to town to be there by car in 15 mins but nice to return to quiet

At Screech Owl Sanctuary & Animal Park (15 minutes’ drive), they will be able to meet owls, wallabies and meerkats, while Springfield Fun Park (15 minutes) has thrill, tractor and pony rides. Explore the history of this region at Castle an Dinas, St Columb Major (15 minutes), where three ditch and rampart concentric rings are all that’s left of a second-century BC hillfort, or at Roche Rock (20 minutes), the ruins of a 15th-century chapel perched on a craggy outcrop. Wildlife watching boat trips depart from the harbour at Padstow, on the estuary of the River Camel, and you might see seals, dolphins and puffins as you sail around the coastline. You can aww at baby crustaceans at the National Lobster Hatchery or get a primer on local history at the Padstow Museum.
