  • Friendly, spacious farm site between Delabole and St Teath
  • Polzeath, Wadebridge and Tintagel Castle within a 15-minute drive
  • Sea views on site; half a mile's walk to South West Coast Path
A friendly and clean site with heaps of space in the North Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – it doesn’t get much better than that surely? Actually it does if you’re staying at Tregragon Farm Camping, between Delabole and St Teath… because you'll be really close to the sea from here. Take a short walk round the corner and stunning views of the Cornish coast start begin to reveal themselves – and you can get out onto the South West Coast Path by wandering half a mile down the lane. There are plenty more footpaths around if you fancy filling many days with hikes around both coast and countryside, and you can also walk to Tregardock and Trebarwith Strand beaches for a spot of surfing. A little further away but still easily accessible are the Camel Trail and Bodmin Moor, and it’s also straightforward to get to some of Cornwall’s most popular seaside towns and villages including Port Isaac, Bude, Polzeath and Padstow (best visited on the ferry from Rock). Outings done for the day, return to the farm to light up a barbecue for your evening meal; there’s plenty of space around for family fun and games too if anyone needs to let off a bit of steam. Facilities here are limited to just portable toilets, and there are convenience stores and pubs a mile or two away in the villages.

Primitive grass and earth tent campsite

Liked: There was plenty of space on the pitch and from what I could see, pitches were only around the perimeter so it would not feel too crowded even when full to capacity. The toilets are portaloo/festival type and we’re very clean. There was fresh water but no chemical waste facilities that I noticed. It is an excellent place for peace and quiet for the price

Disliked: Not a dislike but I recommend decent tent pegs as there were stones under the soil which bent the standard pegs.

Primitive grass and earth RV campsite

Liked: Everything, the site was in a beautiful spot, it was relaxing and peaceful with beautiful views and little walks up the lanes. It was a great base for us as we were out most daytimes and fab for a chilled evening just sitting out. Toilets were kept impeccably clean and Amy is just so lovely. This is our second summer with her and we will definitely be back next summer!

From the manager: Thank you for returning, was lovely to see you again. Hopefully again next year!

Local attractions

Once you’ve spent a bit of time at the local beaches, set off to explore some other stretches of coastline – perhaps taking a walk around Pentire Point, hitting the surf in Polzeath or mixing up history and scenery at Tintagel Castle (all about 15 minutes’ drive away). A little further away is Newquay (40 minutes), for another sandy surf beach and the excellent Newquay Zoo. For a change of scenery, stop by at some of Cornwall’s historic attractions, including 500-year-old Pencarrow House & Garden (20 minutes), the National Trust’s Lanhydrock estate (half an hour) or the rather less grand Bodmin Jail Attraction (25 minutes). If that’s not quite how the kids like to spend their days, head instead to family attractions like the puzzle trails, maze and railway of Hidden Valley Discovery Park or the many rides of Camel Creek Adventure Park (both 25 minutes).
