What customers say
Great central spot, a short walk to Bude and the beach. Clean facilities, especially showers, and a peaceful vibe. Spacious, tidy pitches. Some note the slope means levelling ramps are handy for vans. Basic but clean, perfect for a back-to-basics trip. Recommended for convenience and value.

We stayed for one night on…
Powered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked We stayed for one night on an electric pitch. Overall, I felt the campsite was a bit overrated and overpriced for what it offered.
The location is definitely a plus, as it’s close to town and convenient for exploring the area. However, the facilities were fairly average and didn’t quite justify the price. On our first evening there was no hot water available for washing up, which was disappointing.
There were no hosts on site during our stay, although a contact number was provided and I did speak to the owner briefly when the electric didn’t work, luckily we managed to sort it with help from our neighbouring campers.
Overall, it wasn’t a terrible stay, but it didn’t live up to the reviews or the cost. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’d choose to stay here again.
Disliked No options for recycling.

Disliked Only one male toilet in use and that didn’t flush!

A good site in a great location.
Powered grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Location is perfect, literally in Bude itself. Site has all the facilities you need. Toilets, showers and electric hook up if required. The site has very rustic feel, very quiet. We stayed for 3 nights. Would defintly return.
Disliked The site is on a hillside, the most level pitches are at the top and a few at the bottom. But if you have leveling ramps, it's really not a problem.

Excellent location but very basic facilities.
Primitive grass campervan, tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Clean facilities, sheltered from the wind next to the hedge. Excellent access to Bude and the coast path.
Disliked No hand drying facilities or hot water to wash dishes. Seemed expensive for very basic facilities.

From the manager: Well now, thank'ee kindly for the kind words about the clean facilities, the shelter o' the hedge, and our handy spot for Bude and the coast path. That old hedge has saved many a camper from being introduced to the Atlantic a bit sooner than planned.
As for the lack o' hand dryers and hot water for the dishes, you've caught us red-handed, my 'ansome. Efford Down's a simple farm campsite, not a five-star spa disguised as a field. Most folk arrive expectin' grass, fresh air and a bit o' peace and quiet, though every now and then someone turns up hopin' for the Ritz with tent pegs.
On the question o' price, we're sorry it didn't feel like value for money. Mind, a sheltered pitch, clean facilities, and a stone's throw from some of the finest coastline in Cornwall do cost a touch more than parking up in Uncle Bert's back garden.
Still, we're glad you enjoyed the location, and we wish you well in your continued search for a campsite that offers both rugged outdoor adventure and the full conveniences of a luxury utility room.
