Warminghurst Camping is way off the road, off grid and tucked away in West Sussex farm fields. This is a small site offering spectacular views of the South Downs and ancient Chanctonbury Ring. History buffs – take note: here you will be sleeping on the site of a house formerly owned by William Penn, the Quaker founder of Pennsylvania, USA. Basic facilities include one flushing toilet, two composting toilets, plus access to at least one washing-up sink and shower with hot water. Cars are allowed on pitches in dry conditions – if the field becomes too wet, alternative parking is provided, along with a wheelbarrow to transfer all your gear to the field. There are oodles of walks straight from the site, leading through woodland and open farmland. The nearest pub serves local beer and good food and is a 15-minute stroll away on a good footpath – so you can leave the car behind. A drive around the area turns up loads of other eating options in small villages nearby. You can stock up on essentials in Ashington (five minutes’ drive), with a convenience store, petrol station and chemist. The supermarket, local butchers and indie shops in Storrington (10 minutes) should serve all your other needs. No recorded music on site please – but playing acoustic stringed instruments is actively encouraged between the hours of 10am and 10pm.

Primitive grass campervan campsite

Liked Lovely spot a short drive away from Worthing.
Amenities all worked well and we're clean.
Chris the owner was very accommodating and helpful when we needed to change our plans last minute
Kites circulating above during the day.
Canopy of stars of an evening.
Lovely walk to the nearest village with Pub and cafes.
Hope to return when we can.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked I was looking for a fairly quiet site in the South Downs. As I was camping with 3 kids I needed somewhere close to Arundel (great day out at the castle), with no dogs, and easy access to clean water and toilets. It was as simple as that, and Warminghurst ticked all the boxes!
Chris kindly emailed ahead of our trip to point out a road closure nearby, and responded really quickly to my questions around the heat wave/camp fire rules.

From the manager: Thanks for your kind review. Apologies for the noise on Saturday night it was the Ashington Village festival ( about 1 mile away) which happens every year in mid August but always finishes at 11pm

Liked This is one of our favourite campsites. It was our third stay here. It’s very quiet with some great views. Lovely hot shower. Chris is always quick to respond to mails and very friendly and accommodating. Already looking forward to our next stay.
