  • Dog-friendly site surrounded by countryside five miles from Winchester
  • A 15-minute drive to Mottisfont and 35 minutes from Stonehenge
  • Playground, games field and dog exercise area; firepit hire, logs sold
This is a peaceful campsite that welcomes families and dogs to its level and well-kept pitches, which are sheltered by mature trees and hedgerows. With facilities including hot showers and flushing toilets – plus a playground, games field, dog exercise field and footpath to a local country park – Folly Farm Caravan and Camping Park is a tiptop place to stay in the gorgeous Hampshire countryside. How to unwind here? Well, there are plenty of spots around the site to let your hair down (thanks to its peaceful and level grassy pitches, play areas, wifi, free showers and walks in the surrounding woodlands) but you’ll have your choice of many a day out from here too. Perhaps a venture into the South Downs National Park (10 minutes’ drive)? Into the vibrant city of Winchester (15 minutes) for its historic sites, such as the medieval cathedral, the ruins of Wolvesey Castle, the working 18th-century corn mill, Jane Austen’s house or the castle’s medieval round table, once sat at by King Arthur? From Winchester, there’s a short stroll along the water meadows of the river Itchen down to England’s oldest medieval almshouse and The Hospital of St Cross or the 25-minute ascent to St Catherine’s Hill for views of the city, a dramatic chalk hill and an Iron Age hillfort. As for ventures from the site, you might want to set your next target as one of three local pubs serving home-cooked food in the villages of Sparsholt, Littleton or Crawley (this one’s 25 minutes’ walk away).

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Good location, not far from Winchester and good local pubs. Pitch was quite tidy and secure. Toilets and showers were clean and fairly modern. Some toilets and shower units were combined and felt private.

Disliked Toilets were a little confusing as there was a sign saying new women's block coming soon end of June (we stayed in July and there was no new block) Toilets were also all unisex, this didn't really bother us but may bother other people

Lovely pitch great ideal facilities. Friendly staff.…

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Good comms from the site prior to arrival which included all the details of the site, and a map layout of the pitches detailing the one that we were booked to go on to. This made getting to our pitch a doddle. We were met by the wardens within an hour of setting up who were friendly and they gave us warm welcome.
Good play area for children which seemed to be located in a family area away from our pitch which was nice - I'm not complaining - we did the camping with children thing a long time ago - great to see them play but not right next to us thank-you!!!

From the manager: Thank you so much for your kind and detailed feedback! We’re really pleased to hear the welcome email helped make your arrival smooth and stress-free.

It’s also lovely to know our wardens made you feel welcome, and that you appreciated the layout of the site, especially the thoughtful positioning of the play area. We do our best to strike a balance so everyone can enjoy their stay, whether they're camping with children or just looking for a bit of peace and quiet.

We hope to see you again soon for another relaxing visit!

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked We had a lovely stay at Folly Farm Campsite in the heart of Hampshire. Tucked away in the rolling countryside, this peaceful, site offered the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort.

From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming and helpful.
The pitches were spacious, level, and well-maintained, the facilities were spotless – clean toilets, hot showers, and a well-equipped washing-up area. There’s firewood and fire pits available, which we used, great for cooking marshmallows.

The location is ideal for exploring the local area.
If you’re looking for a relaxing site then this is a fantastic choice, we’re already planning our return.

From the manager: Thank you so much for your amazing review! We're delighted to hear you had such an enjoyable stay and appreciated the peaceful countryside setting, our welcoming team, and the spotless facilities.

We’re glad you enjoyed the fire pits and logs, nothing beats marshmallows around a campfire! It’s great to hear you found our location ideal for exploring Hampshire too.

We really appreciate your kind words and can’t wait to welcome you back for another relaxing stay soon.

Liked Over the past 45 years, the best thought outside we have ever stayed on . From secure a property entry , allocated pitch, lovely flat site , great shower and toilets, the warden and owners incredibly friendly . Can't wait to go back .

Disliked Nothing

From the manager: Wow, what an incredible compliment! We're truly honoured to be the best site you've stayed on in 45 years, that means the world to us. It's fantastic to hear that you appreciated everything from the secure entry and flat pitches to the facilities and friendly welcome from our team.

Powered grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Friendly and helpful manager. Only slightly sloping pitch. Well kept site, clean and tidy. Security very good as ANPR controlled entry. Lots of places nearby to visit within 15/20 minutes.

Disliked Current toilet block a little tired but clean. However, manager advised new one nearly ready for use in a couple of weeks. Slight noise of traffic from nearby road during day but very quiet in the evenings and at night.

From the manager: Thank you for your kind review. We're really pleased you enjoyed your stay, found the site well kept, the staff friendly and helpful, and appreciated the onsite security and nearby attractions. The new facilities are just about ready, and will be open very soon. We look forward to welcoming you back to enjoy the improvements on your next visit.

A great site with friendly wardens and nice facilities.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked A peaceful site, nicely laid out with nice facilities.
We booked 1 night as the weather was so good - we only live half an hour away but this will definitely be a go-to in the future if we fancy a quick break.
(Check your email junk folder or you’ll miss your pitch allocation- we did and pitched in the wrong place but easily solved by the friendly wardens and we moved to the right one!)

Disliked Nothing

From the manager: Thank you for the great review. We're so pleased you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and facilities, and it's great to hear we're your go-to for future quick getaways. Thanks for sharing your tip about checking the junk folder for your welcome email and pitch details. We're glad our wardens could help get things sorted quickly. Looking forward to welcoming you back again soon.

Powered grass campervan campsite

Liked Very clean facilities and well managed. Clear directions and entry system. Pitches were spacious and easy to locate. Friendly staff.

Disliked I didn’t dislike anything but a bigger off lead dog park would have made this a better as quiet small if any other dogs come into the area.

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely review. We're glad you found the facilities clean, the site well managed, and the team friendly. The off-lead dog park is very popular and can get busy during peak times, so we will consider increasing the size if we can. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Powered grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The location and the views
Well maintained grounds
Nicely lit up at night where it needed to be
Clean and tidy site in general
Visits from the ground keeping team to do check ins with all new stays and to ensure you are comfortable etc…

Disliked Only gripe is the toilet block has no facilities for disabled people who need extra support
Also no disabled showers
Luckily there was a shower with enough space for us to get in the room and assist our disabled person
But could do with a disabled access toilet and shower facility to encourage more physically challenged people to go enjoy the great outdoors

From the manager: Thank you so much for your thoughtful and detailed review. We're really pleased to hear you enjoyed the location, views, and the overall upkeep of the site, and that our team made you feel welcome and comfortable.

We appreciate your feedback about the facilities. Accessibility is important, and we'll be reviewing this as we plan future updates to ensure everyone can enjoy the outdoors more comfortably. Our new ladies shower block with large wet rooms will be opening within the next couple of weeks. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

Local attractions

Get keyed up on the local history… with hillforts, National Trust properties and historic steam railways around, there are many jaunts to take you way back. Closest to the site, there's Danebury Iron Age Hillfort (10 minutes’ drive), Mottisfont’s (15 minutes) historical priory, garden and country estate (15 minutes) or Winchester’s (15 minutes) cathedral, castle, markets and fairs. Perhaps the most iconic of the lot, Stonehenge (35 minutes) is a short trip away. Mid Hants Railway 'Watercress Line' (25 minutes) will take you on a ride along a 19th-century heritage steam train line, while the National Motor Museum (45 minutes) and the maritime museum at Buckler's Hard (55 minutes) are full to the brim with old artefacts. Once you’re done with country house tours – perhaps at Broadlands House (35 minutes) or the National Trust’s Georgian Hinton Ampner (25 minutes) – a festival might bring you firmly to the present again. The Boomtown Fair venue (20 minutes) and Carfest South venue (25 minutes) are both close by. But, how to finish off your stay? Maybe the 72-hectare arboretum at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens (20 minutes), the birds of prey experiences at the Hawk Conservancy Trust (25 minutes), Marwell Zoo (half an hour), Salisbury Cathedral (half an hour) or the kid-friendly Paultons Park, Home of Peppa Pig World (half an hour)?
