  • Family-friendly site on the northeast edge of New Forest National Park
  • Five minutes' drive to Paulton's Park, Home of Peppa Pig World
  • Spacious, flat pitches with space for kids to play safely
If you’ve got kids of a certain age, it’s just possible that you may have heard of a certain Paulton’s Park, Home of Peppa Pig World? If they’ve been well behaved enough to earn a visit to that very place, then Green Pastures Caravan and Touring Park makes an excellent base to do that from – it’s only five minutes’ drive away. That’s not the only thing this family-friendly site has going for it, though – far from it, in fact. This handy Hampshire spot is on the north-eastern edge of the New Forest National Park, about 10 minutes’ drive from Romsey, so it’s a fine location for all sorts of days out around the forest and along the south coast. And it’s all splendidly easy to get to as well, being just a short drive from the M27 motorway. Pitches here are flat and spacious, and cleverly arranged around a large open area where kids can play while parents keep an eye on them from just far enough away. Dogs are also very welcome on site. Facilities include toilets, free hot showers, a washing-up area and a launderette. There are several places to eat and drink a short drive away, and a supermarket about five minutes’ drive away if you need picnic bits and other supplies.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Stayed with friends so we had 2 pitches one each . Staff were friendly and helpful i think it is a husband and wife that run the site they live on site right at the very front so ideal for keeping a eye on who comes and goes. The wife cleans the bathrooms and washing up rooms everymorning. The husband walks around the site a few times a day checking everyone is okay and following the rules.
We was alound to bring our dogs as long as they stayed on there leads. Grass was clean (dry but thats the weather's fault ).the site is close to paultons park so many family's staying with youngsters. Big open part of grass for kids to run around and play in.
There is a washing mashine and tumble dryer and i think they welcome long time stays and the people that (live hear ) are all welcoming and polite.
I would stay hear again but I would definitely bring more entertainment for the kids next time .

Disliked It is right by the motorway so noise could be a issue , altho we was fine and slept fine. Unless you bring your own entertainment there is nothing to do hear no close shops or anything for the kids apart from space. Also not many trees so if your looking for shade its pretty much impossible.
This site would benefit from a little tuck shop nothing huge just little essentials because your down a country road there is pretty much nothing for you to grab some basic needs. Also showers would really benefit frlma refurb , however Im not complaining because we was camping so having running hot water and tolets is definitely a luxury when your camping.

Liked Space children had to run around and super close to peppa pig world

Disliked Entrance was poor, no professional set up, not secure at all to prevent unwanted guests. It was a chain you had to lift up and down each time you came and go. No reception, “supervisors” if that’s what they were lived on site in a caravan and they just showed you to your pitch. Grass conditions were awful, very basic camp site. Wasn’t a family friendly pitch at all, was only a few families, majority of people camping on site were all workmen working on nearby projects so felt a bit strange to be staying here surrounded by industrial vehicles / vans. Men’s showers flooded and not clean due to this issue. (Women’s showers were fine). The site is located right next to a large motorway which we didn’t realise and it is so difficult to get to sleep and stay asleep on a night due to the heavy traffic noise. We left the site early to come home, wouldn’t stay here anyone or recommend to anyone.

From the manager: Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We’re sorry to hear that your stay did not meet your expectations.

We would like to clarify a few points for future guests. Our reception is staffed, although unfortunately our receptionist was having their scheduled day off during your stay. Our on-site team were available to assist guests and show them to their pitches.

With regard to the grass, we appreciate that it was not looking at its best. The exceptionally dry conditions and prolonged lack of rainfall this summer have affected grass across the UK, and unfortunately this is something we have had very little control over. We are continuing to do what we can to maintain the site during these conditions.

We are also sorry to hear about the issues you experienced with the shower facilities. We take cleanliness and maintenance seriously and will ensure this feedback is passed on to the relevant team.

Our site is located close to major road links, which is stated in our site information, although we appreciate that the traffic noise may have been more noticeable than you anticipated.

We’re pleased that you enjoyed the proximity to Peppa Pig World and hope that, despite the issues you experienced, you and your family had a safe journey home. Thank you again for your feedback.

Liked Campsite was easy to find easily accessible and excellent value for money. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There was nothing on site apart from toilets and showers but that was fine as the way the pitches are set out you could see your kids and it felt safe for them to run free and play. We used the site as a base as we were there to visit Paulton park which is literally 2 minutes along the road. I would definitely stay again if we were ever down that way.

Disliked Toilets and showers do with a bit of an update but they did the job.

Local attractions

If your kids are of the right age, you’re definitely going to end up at Paulton’s Park, Home of Peppa Pig World (five minutes’ drive) before too long – it makes a great day out, with all sorts of rides, animal attractions like penguin feeding and themed areas including a dinosaur park (plus the chance to snap pics with the famous pig herself of course…) Beyond that, kids and grownups alike often enjoy days out at New Forest Wildlife Park (10 minutes) and admiring the shiny vehicles at the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu (20 minutes). The Solent Sky Museum and SeaCity Museum in Southampton (20 minutes) and the historic cathedral and Magna Carta exhibit in Salisbury (half an hour) are popular too – and of course it’s only a 40-minute drive to Stonehenge too. If you’re focusing on fresh air, you might like to head to Lymington (25 minutes), home to several sailing clubs and a seawater swimming pool, or take a walk along a two-mile sand spit to reach Henry VIII’s Hurst Castle (35 minutes). A stroll around Exbury Gardens (25 minutes) and a ride on the steam railway might also be on the cards.
