What customers say
Campers appreciate friendly staff, clean facilities, and a pleasant location. Pitches are well-marked and spacious. A recurring issue is a lack of hot water for dishwashing. Some find pool bookings and activity costs pricey. Noise and distance to resort are also mentioned.

David who was managing the site…
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked David who was managing the site when we arrived was extremely helpful. He helped us with our tent, let us chose our spot. He kept the toilets immaculate and the showers. We went from Monday to Wednesday, it wasn’t as overly busy as it probably is on the weekend which was better for us. The village was good, there was utmost Elton on on Monday for entertainment, which was really good. We didn’t do the karaoke in the Tuesday and went off site Tuesday and Wednesday. Good location not far from the town/lake.
Disliked Wasn’t really on the sandy balls site. Was only about a 5 minute walk to the village so all ok. We had access to the leisure centre and indoor and outdoor swimming pool which was good. However, you only have access for a hour. I can understand they probably have a limit when the site is busy. All other activities are quite costly for what they were. £15 each for most activity’s, which is quite a lot for families and why we didn’t do them.

Had a nice time but wouldn’t rush back.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Nice spaced pitches, 5 min walk to sandy balls and its attractions. Great clean, hot, powerful showers. Staff are all lovely.
Disliked Sandy balls itself is quite dated now, particularly the swimming pool where it’s a bit dingy, none of the showers work at all, bathrooms falling apart really.

Would not book again
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Location
Disliked Was not aware that the camping field was detached from the holiday park. Booking stated one tent per pitch which is why we paid for two pitches but other people had more than one tent on a pitch. Didn't feel it was good value for money. Everything felt 'temporary' like the toilets and showers in portacabins which could have been kept cleaner considering therr was someone sitting at the gate most of the day

Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Lovely pitch, lovely site - lots to do to keep everyone entertained. Restaurants on site are also really good. Nice toilets and showers.
Disliked Bit of a walk to the holiday village but it's a nice one. We're camping field was quite packed in so didn't feel massively spacious.

Facilities good, thats all. Reasonably priced good shop.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked I enjoyed staying here, I really liked the facilities that were included that you could use. My children liked it.
Disliked How close together the pitches are. You can't choose who you are next to so it's like a lucky dip! We were next to a pompous family that didn't like anyone to speak and sent their children to bed at around 6pm every night while on holiday! They were also upset by my children waking up at 7-8am in the morning and thought they owned the campsite. There were a few families like that there, rather uncomfortable considering how close the tents are. We are a decent well behaved family and we're not causing a problem, we were there to enjoy our camping trip, so found this awkward. The so called man also left dog poo bags near other people's tents. For this reason I would not return here and have stayed at much better camp sites.
