What customers say

This small, clean, secure site gets top marks for excellent, spotless facilities. Easy booking, great communication & helpful staff are common praise. Convenient for the M6 & local sights. Some traffic noise from the main road. Limited shower capacity at peak times & occasional Wi-Fi issues noted. A well-kept, great base, with many wanting to return.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Clean toilets and nice hot shower. Spacious pitch for our van. Only stayed for one night as part of a longer journey, but this would be a good base for exploring the area but not really good for hanging out at your camp.

Disliked Road was quite noisy during the day but not bad at night. The WiFi advertised was non-existent and there isn’t good mobile signal, so I felt a bit isolated.

From the manager: Hi Dot. Thanks for choosing to stay with us and for your comments. We had a wifi outage during your stay, hence the wifi issue, which has since been resolved and the wifi continues to be very good as rated 8/10 by over 160 guest reviews via pitchup. Nothing we can do about guests mobile signal I'm afraid...

We openly advertise and make guests aware of the proximity of the A road before guests book, giving guests the opportunity not to book, although you still booked knowing our park is close to fast but not busy A road.....

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Small well kept site that is clean and tidy.

Disliked Main road outside site very noisy.
To many rules. You will be charged if there gate comes down on your vehicle other issues if some one follows you on site, litigation central.

From the manager: Hi Stephen. Thank you for choosing to stay with us. From your comments..... You had access to a video link, park plan before booking that CLEARLY highlights the A road but still chose to book... We could not be more transparent....

We have rules due to guests causing previous issues and thus to make guests aware of the same - to inform and aid in avoiding issues. As per our email to you, our barrier provides adequate time to pass through it without damaging the same even though guests have previously damaged our barrier un necessarily. We make no apologies in providing guidance to avoid guests damaging our barrier and the significant cost on us for such damage relative to a small fee for guests to stay on our park.

Great site. Would definitely recommend. Great pitches for vans.

Liked Nice small clean site. Perfect for stop over from M6

Disliked Maybe a little on the expensive side for facilities there and extra £5 charge for dog was a little disappointing considering no dedicated areas for them.

Local attractions

For kid-pleasing times, make Greenlands Farm Village your first port of call (100 yards from site). Miniature golf, a playground, archery and cuddly farm animals are all on the cards here (there's also a garden centre, restaurant and well-stocked farm shop for grownup guests). For a family-friendly day at the beach, head to Morecambe Bay (20 minutes' drive), where adventurous types can sort watersports and fishing adventures. Green-fingered guests heading up to the Lakes should call in at Levens Hall (15 minutes), a historic house near Kendal with top-notch topiary. Kendal (20 minutes) is an artsy town on the edge of the national park, a leisurely drive from spots like Lake Windermere (15 minutes from Kendal or 25 minutes from site) and Cartmel Fell (25 minutes or 30 minutes). Most trips down to the Dales, meanwhile, will pass through Kirkby Lonsdale, a market town on the river Lune (20 minutes). Stop off here to admire the scenery at Ruskin's View or for a stroll over the Devil's Bridge, or carry on for outdoorsy attractions like Hardraw Force and Malham Cove (both about an hour from site).
