Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked: We were delighted to be the first guests here. The description is very accurate - there are no facilities - but the views can be lovely. We were treated to views over the valley whilst sitting outside the tent in a lovely sunset, and it was possible to see Morecombe Bay to the west.
This is camping at its most basic but with the benefit of a super friendly family as hosts. We were in the lower field which might get challenging in wet weather if on bikes, as we were. The upper field has a hard standing path so shouldn’t be as potentially weather challenged.
There aren’t any stores in the village but there are two pubs in close walking distance (10-15 mins). We understand that they do food but didn’t have the opportunity to test them out. If you’re self-catering, as we were, make sure you have supplies. If you haven’t, then Blackburn is only about 15 mins drive away.
The site is up on the edge of the moors and super quiet.
We woke to find ourselves in cloud but this lifted by the time we had packed up.
The site wasn’t signposted, so check and remember the address. It is at the top end of the village and the sat-nav did take us there but it had been a long day. No problem once we’d checked the address and asked a friendly passing dog walker.
This is basic camping, but who needs more than space to park up, pitch a tent and enjoy the landscape.
Who knew you could have a wild camping experience so close to Blackburn! No Wi-Fi, no loos but fresh water.

From the manager: Thank you for your review and for being our first campers! I'm pleased that you enjoyed your stay and hope you had a pleasant journey back.
Since you stayed, we have upgraded our facilities to include an on site toilet. We pride ourselves in being a back to basics campsite, and as you mentioned an almost 'wild camping' experience for people that want to escape from the hustle and bustle of every day life to a remote location!
Thanks again and take care :-)
