  • Family-sized bell tents at a peaceful Lancashire pop-up glamping site
  • Southport and Formby beaches half an hour's drive away
  • Firepit, woodburning stove and kitchenette for each tent
Get yourselves a lovely slice of rural Lancashire life at Puddleduck Glamping, a pop-up glamping site in the little village of Much Hoole, around 20 minutes’ drive from the centre of Preston. There are only a couple of bell tents set up at this sizeable site, so you should have plenty of space in which to relax, or let the kids and dogs have a good run around. There are pretty countryside views all around, and easy access to footpaths nearby for walks to local villages. Also within a few minutes’ walk are a farm shop, a fishery and a pump cycle track, so that’s several handy things you won’t need to get in the car for. That farm shop is a useful place for supplies – either for your kitchenette (which has an electric hob, a kettle and various utensils) or for an evening by the firepit out on your patio. If you’d like to expand your cooking adventures, you’ll have the option to hire a pizza oven for your stay too (and if you’d rather someone else did the cooking, there are several cafés and restaurants five minutes’ drive away in Longton). The bell tents at this site are family-friendly, sleeping up to two adults and three kids in a double bed and three optional single camp beds (bed linen provided for the double bed, but you’ll need to bring your own sleeping bags/duvets etc for the camp beds). There’s also a woodburning stove in each tent, with kindling and logs for this and the firepit available to buy on site. High-quality toilets and showers are in a shared facility close to your tent.

Bell tent

Liked: As first timers to glamping/camping and with three young children this place really was just everything we could have wished for, certainly gave us the ‘bug!’ A beautiful place to spend some QT with your family. The bell tent was perfect- beds and camping chairs were super comfy and the on-site facilities had everything you could have needed, the shower was amazing! James was brilliant, felt like he had been a friend for years. We wouldn’t hesitate in recommending you guys to anyone looking for a little break away from reality. Thank you so so much for a lovely time 😊

Bell tent

Liked: This site is beautiful. Peaceful and well kept. In the grounds of the family home, so James is on hand for anything you need. There are only two yurts, quite a distance apart, so very private. Both the yurts and shared bathroom are spotless. The bathroom is like one in your own home. There is an outdoor kitchen area and fridge, again with everything you need. There are chickens and a play area for the kids. The star of the show is Jessie the family's cavapoo. What a cutee! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back.

Disliked: Nothing to dislike.

Liked: We’d definitely recommend a stay at Puddleduck Glamping. The facilities are great, clean and everything you need. We had a friendly welcome when we arrived. Great location for touring this area being close to Southport and Formby beaches. The bell tents are a great size, there is four of us in our family with older teenagers, and there was plenty of room inside.

Liked: We would highly recommend Puddleduck Glamping and can't wait to book again. The owners went above and beyond for us and made us feel welcome and accommodated. The bathroom facilities are gorgeous and spotless, as is the kitchette. We found it really handy to have cooking facilities and a fridge/freezer to make use of. The bell tent was presented beautifully, with fabulous camping chairs and camp beds for the children. We were offered logs/kindling for sale for use in the fire pit and the log burner inside the tent, which kept us really warm when the sun set and overnight, something that we often worry about with having little ones. The kiddies loved the chickens and the swingset. We will definitely book again, it's a gem of a place. Thankyou for having us!

Local attractions

If you’re keen to soak up as much rural fresh air as you can, perhaps you’d like to spend an afternoon by the lake at Martin Hall Fishery (10 minutes’ walk) or take a good stroll around Longton Brickcroft Nature Reserve (five minutes’ drive). There’s lots of good wildlife to see at the Owl & Bird of Prey Sanctuary (10 minutes), too. Or how about taking in a bit of sea air for a change? The beaches of Southport and Formby are both about half an hour’s drive away – head to the former for traditional seaside attractions and the latter to see if you can spot red squirrels in the coastal nature reserve. Beyond all that, there’s plenty more – maybe a stroll around the Tudor house and grounds of Rufford Old Hall (15 minutes), birdwatching at WWT Martin Mere (15 minutes), a gin tour at Brindle Distillery (25 minutes) or some time spent admiring the shiny exhibits of The British Commercial Vehicle Museum (20 minutes)?
