What customers say
A peaceful, basic site with stunning views and friendly staff, great for walks near Barley. Many loved the quiet, spacious pitches and campfires. A few noted basic facilities, occasional cleanliness issues, limited hot water, hilly terrain, and parking away from pitches.

Liked Absolutely nothing 😢
Disliked Unfortunately, I got the impression that the owner felt she was doing us a massive favor just by letting us camp on her field. Secondly, the bathrooms were locked for us because some children had been playing around them the night before. We arrived the following day and wanted to use the bathrooms, but we couldn't just because of something someone else did. The owner had an issue with absolutely everything and kept nitpicking. The cleanliness was terrible. I will definitely never go back there and will discourage anyone from visiting. I have never in my life encountered such rude customer service. Personally, I won’t be returning, and I especially don’t recommend it to anyone with children, whether they are toddlers or teenagers. Just don’t go there—it’s not worth the stress

From the manager: Thank you for your feedback.
I just wanted to check—were you part of the large group that arrived and hosted an unplanned event during your stay? This created a significant amount of unexpected pressure on the site and contributed to a very stressful situation.
To clarify, the bathrooms were not closed. Access codes are normally emailed out in case the doors shut, so guests can still enter. I’m sorry if there was any confusion around this.
I do apologise regarding the cleanliness. There were far more people onsite than originally planned, which unfortunately impacted this. That said, as with most campsites, we do ask that campers leave the facilities as they find them.
Our site is advertised as a basic, no-frills campsite, and we aim to provide a simple, relaxed environment.
I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your stay, and I do appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.

Fantastic
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Great location. Decent amenities e.g. shower/toilet/wash area. Helped that the weather was fantastic.
Disliked Only issue is that the majority of the site it on a slope and if the top pitches are taken (flat), you're camping on a tilt.

Peaceful, off grid stay
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked For an off grid stay this site was perfect. Only a short walk into Barley village where you can find 2 good pubs for refreshments. Wonderful scenic walks straight off the camp.
Disliked I would recommend to take your own trolley to take your stuff up to camping field.

Well worth it for the scenery.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked Location was reson for booking. Friendly staff and good facilities.
Disliked Advert says you can park next to tent. You can't which it tells you after you book. Camp field is on a hill and as we were setting up for two pitches took several hours to lug everything up to where we were staying and get set up.

Great camp booked to return in August.
Primitive grass tent campsite
Liked The site is very isolated in the valley. To get to any shops it's a good 15-20 min drive. Was nice to be away from busy life and just relax. You can not park the car next to the tent which we liked there is a small car park at the end of the field very secure. Where you leave your car the camp have wheelbarrows to help you transport your belongings up. This camp is very clean well maintained plenty of showers and toilets. There is warm water in the shower not hot but comfortable warm to have a wash/freshen up. We went bank holiday weekend was very hot 🥵🔥. The camp was not overcrowded so the kids could still run around.
Disliked Not so much as a dislike just an advisory No warden and no staff really around on camp the one man we did see was lovely. So a few campers did not respect the no noise after 10.30. but you get this on every camp. You always get one this would not put me off we had a lovely time and would definitely return very soon.
