What customers say
Spectacular views of Ullswater & fells. Sophie, the host, is praised for being friendly & helpful. Campers love the spacious site, fire pit rentals & clean portaloos (though sometimes supplies run low or they get messy when busy). Basic but affordable with stunning scenery. Occasional late-night noise from campers noted.

No matter how busy the site…
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked No matter how busy the site is, you don’t feel too close to any other campers, probably the friendliest site we’ve been to! Sophie is brilliant and even when it’s raining we joined in with all the kids sliding down the grass on mattresses! Make sure you get up for sunrise as it’s gorgeous over the campsite!

Good location and good price
Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Great location, right next to pooley bridge and Penrith is only 12 minute drive away. Views of Ullswater lake and mountains from the field was beautiful.
Disliked Booked it under impression the site was for families and couples however did find in the evening and into the nights it was quite noisy and rowdy which is not ideal when you have children with you. The portaloos were also not cleaned regularly or filled with water which was abit of a nightmare when needing to flush! Especially with drunk groups…

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Best alternative to wild camping. Massive field so plenty of room to have your own space. There is toilet facilities which were clean. Great location to the lake and the pub on the corner has a great atmosphere and gorgeous food! Overall 10/10 camping experience! We were a group of 5 and seen a range of other groups of friends, families and couples :)

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite
Liked Setting, staff on site, fire pit
Disliked The toilets, it's the 1 thing that would make all the difference as it's currently ONLY portaloos and no clean water
