Liked: Loved the facilities and ease of access to get there and reach the rest of the Lake District. Nice pitches with good views (if you don't mind the hill!) Regular buses and amenities near by for breakfast and dinner.

Liked: What a great little site!
I love the almost "wild camp" feel, helped by leaving your car in the area away from the campsite. I prefer parking on something more solid too, having a little rear wheel drive car!
The site is for singles/couples with no kids. A real bonus !!
As a single female, it was nice to see lots of other women on their own. If you are thinking of taking your first steps in to solo camping, Ings Kippers is a great place to start
I camped next to another tent but we pitched facing opposite directions so it felt I had the whole place to myself.
It was so peaceful. The others on site were respectful and kept noise to a minimum but all were so friendly.
Speaking of which, the lady who runs the place is lovely, friendly and helpful. I'm sure her husband is just as nice but I didn't get chance to see him.
Each spot (which you choose yourself) has its own picnic bench which is a real bonus for those of us who travel light.
They also have a fire pit. I never normally bother with those but, as the stay was a real bargain (less than half the price of a site not far away) I bought some wood, kindling and lighters for an equally good value £7. So glad I did!! Sat by the fire watching the sunset was beautiful.
As is the surrounding area. It's a lovely walk over School Knot to Windermere.
Over the road there is a lovely looking pub/brewery The Watermill, which does evening meals . In the morning there is a Pret a Manger. Next to that is a Londis if you need to pick up supplies. Just a short walk away is an honesty box (which takes PayPal!!!) selling fantastic eggs .
Other useful things on site include a freezer for icepacks, a library, 20p indoor or free outdoor showers and free lockers for charging devices.
It's really hard to find any faults with ings Kippers. Yes, it's close to a busy road but the nose is a gentle hum and the large amount of trees around help reduce noise levels.
Although I'm still baffled by the name 😃

Liked: Shower / bathroom . Freezer . Views , very warm welcome , small site. Pub 5 mins walk. Pret A Manger and petrol station with full shop across the road .
Disliked: We didn’t sleep because we were freezing so the road noise was the only dislike for us but we would definitely stay again . It’s a climb up and down to the pitches so be aware

Liked: What a beautiful site, the people were kind and friendly, the pitches were perfect with secluded little spots for privacy. The fire pits were a lovely touch. The compostable toilet was clean and easy to use as was the outdoor shower. Lockers and a campers library. Great location for hiking in the lakes. Really nice not to have lots of early morning noise from children. Very reasonably priced. Loved the whole thing, would totally recommend.
Disliked: Going up the hill with all our stuff but that's a small cost for the peace of a car free site.

Liked: Quiet and peaceful. Felt quite private wifh the trees around and sheltered. Easy no-fuss admission. I really liked the attention to energy and water saving and the recycling availability was the best I have seen at a campsite. Clearly labelled and well-provisioned with bins for everything. It was an ideal, simple but very well serviced campsite. I also liked the locker system with charging provision. Very much appreciated!
