Liked I absolutely adore this place. The view of the mountains was amazing to wake up to. The walks were beautiful and the lake was breathe taking. only sad that we stayed there for two days and will definitely be back in the future.

Liked Amazing place. Farmer came round on his quad throughout the day with wood, toilet paper, fire pits etc at a cost price if you needed it, he was Very friendly and easy approachable.

Walks, forestry, mountains and lake views were spectacular. I would highly recommend and will be definitely visiting again soon.

Liked View is fantastic; proximity to lake is amazing

Disliked Toilets become dirty very quickly - went as infrequently as possible;
Loud and obnoxious campers - large groups playing music til early hours- not campsite's fault but 10pm sound curfew not adhered to at all

Liked Loved the how peacefull and remote it was with the lake litrally a couple of minutes away.
Breath taking views.
Pitched up next to the river and there's nothing like going sleep to the sound of the gentle water then waking up and going for a fresh dip in the morning connecting to nature.
Not mutch light pollution so spent hours gazing at the stars and seen a shooting star why I was there.
Really took me out of my normal like for abit and loved every moment being there to the Dragon flies buzzing around to stumbling into sheep down the trails...
I'm gutted I only went for 2 days
Would Definatley go back and Reccomend.

Go on some walks climb up a mountain see the sunset ect ...
Cold water swimming there is so mutch to do if you want it local pubs / gift shops 😃

Liked The campsite was exactly as advertised and what we were looking to get out of the trip as my nephew and his dad wanted as close to wild camping as possible. The location was unbelievable as was the scenery.

David arrived on his quad bike shortly after we had pitched our tent and was very helpful with pointers and guidance to enhance our stay along with bringing down a fire pit for us to rent along with a large bag of wood that lasted our two nights stay.

Also got to say, for a location that is so remote the mobile signal was better than some locations in my home city.

Wast water lake was a 10 min walk through the woodlands at the bottom of the campsite but when you first get sight of it running up through the mountains it's just breathtaking and the sheltered bottom section of the lake before it becomes the river is perfectly set out as a natural swimming/bathing area.

There is also a couple of food serving pubs 10 mins walk from the farm track entrance

Sawmill cafe was a 25 min walk and next to the entrance of the farm track where you turn in of the main road but stops serving food at 3 and closes at 4.

If you did decide to drive the 3 miles to the top end of the lake allow extra time for the slow drive due to the road width which did require patience and reversing when passing oncoming vehicles.

Disliked There wasn't any major dislikes and nothing that spoiled anything of the stay, but -

After chuckling about the other campers comments regarding the farm track I have to say it is a grim drive due to the rocks and stones and that anyone in a vehicle with low ground clearance needs to prepare for a very slow drive as they will struggle.

Portaloos are portaloos and are only beneficial if the people that use them are respectful of others using afterwards. The issue here is they are the porta toilets with no flush facility (chemical pump flush) so the "drop area" can become quite nasty as there is no water involved so it maybe a good idea for people to be advised to take some water with them to assist with the gravity of deposits.
