The hardstanding touring pitches

  • Well-kept touring site 10 minutes’ drive from Milnthorpe in Cumbria
  • Lake District National Park and Sizergh Castle both 10 minutes’ drive
  • Fly fishery, café and modern showers five minutes’ drive from the M6
Farletonview is a family-run site on a diversified farm surrounded by spectacular Cumbrian countryside; every hardstanding tourer pitch has glorious views over Farleton Knott and the fells, yet you’re an easy 10 minutes’ drive from shops and services in Milnthorpe. Farletonview is handy for exploring North Lancashire and Cumbria, while both the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales national parks are easy to get to as the site is only about five minutes’ drive from Junction 36 of the M6. If you’d prefer to abandon the car while on site, it’s 20 minutes’ walk to the nearest bus stop for Kendal or Kirkby Lonsdale. After a busy day out and about, you can refuel on tasty homemade soup, sausage rolls and cakes in the tearoom; alternatively it’s 20 minutes’ walk to the local pub for bar snacks and meals. You have a good choice of inns and takeaways within 10 minutes’ drive as well. There’s no reason to stray too far from your pitch if you don’t feel like it though. Angling folk will be hard to budge from the fly-fishing lake, which operates on a catch-and-release with permits available on site – and if you’re looking for unusual souvenirs of your Cumbria stay, stock up on cottage-garden perennials at the plant nursery. Practical amenities on site include showers, a washing-up station and waste and grey water disposal.

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: The personal touch! Got a call from Ben when we were 15 minutes away with clear directions and info. He then met us at the gate and showed us to our lovely fully serviced pitch which was a great size. There is a tearoom on site which does a fab cheese scones and a plant nursery! The shower/toilet block is spotless and well planned out with 2 larger showers and 3 smaller but still ample showers. Peaceful site not too crowded, with some adorable goats! We will be back!

Disliked: Nothing!

Liked: Lovely view of the lake, pitches well spaced, toilets/showers spotlessly clean & great design.

Disliked: Road noise from motorway.

From the manager: Unfortunately we can't move the M6 but the noise depends on the direction of the wind.
Glad you enjoyed your stay. Farletonview

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Peaceful site. Some road noise, but not too intrusive. Lots of static vans at site, but most empty when we went. Nice clean wet rooms

Disliked: A bit of a mare to find. Had our sat nav beaten. Tea rooms only open latter half of week. Wet rooms a bit small...water goes everywhere!! Use lav first!!
Need to get WiFi sorted. Even basic, budget sites have it.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Sorry your sat nav is beaten. Unfortunately our postcode has been shared with a lot more businesses in the area.
If you'd rung we could have given you directions.
Also if you'd asked we do have WiFi round the tearoom, just not to individual caravans and we could have given you the code.
Most people find that with the toilet seat down the seat doesn't get wet and it's not a problem to them.
You say you can get better amenities on budget sites. That's great.
We feel we offer good value for money.
Kind regards

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: Facilities were spotlessly clean and well maintained
Although not open when we were staying the cafe is nice to have, with covered and uncovered seating

Disliked: The addition of a shelf for wash kits while in the shower rooms would be a useful addition to each room.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: We are looking into the addition of shelves. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Farletonview

FHU cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked: We found the site very hard to find as the sat nav took us to a small industrial site… we phoned the mobile number and the lady very kindly stayed on the phone and directed us straight to the site where we were met and shown to a plot… we had booked a service plot. The site was spotlessly clean as was the toilet block. There is a cafe with outside seating areas where we had lovely home made scones and a cup of tea. There is also a small garden centre, I bought a lovely big hanging basket for £22.50. There is also an overflow carpark which is enclosed so when the garden centre closes this is used as an exercise area for dogs. The site also has a lovely fishing lake. All in all…. Lovely clean quiet site and friendly staff and will definitely return.

Disliked: Maybe would benefit having a small shop selling fresh products alongside the cafe and garden centre.

Local attractions

It’s hard to know what to do first when you’re staying at Farletonview, as there’s a whole raft of options within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. For those of you who like to have a nose around old houses, Levens Hall is a statuesque Elizabethan mansion with spectacular knot gardens and walks through parkland, and National Trust-owned Sizergh is a 14th-century castle with period furniture in sumptuous wood-panelled rooms. You can be walking and cycling in the Lake District National Park in 10 minutes’s drive too, as well as going quad biking at the Outdoor Adventure Company or shooting clay pigeons at Crabtree Clay Shoot you fancy a bit more action. Only slightly further away is the popular hill walk up Arnside Knott (15 minutes) for views over the Irish Sea. Not quite what you’re after? Get out on the water with a boat cruise around Lake Windermere (20 minutes), have a flutter on the horses at Cartmel Racecourse (25 minutes), or slip over the county lines for a foray up to stunning Hardraw Force waterfall (45 minutes) in the Yorkshire Dales National Park (20 minutes).
