General
- Spacious paddock with plenty of peace and privacy
- Cheshire Oaks designer outlet shopping village within a 15-minute walk
- A 15-minute drive from Chester and half an hour from Liverpool
Wind down wherever you wish at Rake Meadows – this site is on a two-acre paddock with a pick-your-own-pitch setup and tons of space to choose from. Set down a country lane in Cheshire next to a field full of horses and surrounded by tall hedges and trees, it feels pretty private and is next to a wildlife reserve with lots of birds and rabbits about.
So far so rural, right? Well, sort of. The site’s actually just a 15-minute walk from Cheshire Oaks Designer Outlet with its huge selection of high-end goods at reduced prices. There’s also an aquarium, cinema, bowling alley and indoor golf next to the complex and plenty of places to source eats (including at a chain inn a five-minute walk away).
Eat here or stoke up the barbecue on base, then burn off any indulgences at a local gym with indoor and outdoor pools, tennis and a sauna (15 minutes away on foot). There’s also direct access to a footpath for dog walks – and yep, you’re most welcome to bring the pup along to this pet-friendly park.
As for activities and attractions to jump in the car for, Chester is 15 minutes’ drive south (with its famed zoo a little closer by) and Liverpool is half an hour north. They’re both a breeze to get to as the site is easily located just off the A5117 (but please note that the trade-off for such a handy location is the presence of some road noise).

Thank you for your positive review, I’m so glad you’ll visit us again and I welcome these useful reviews. I have ordered slightly larger sign. A4 signage is all that is permitted in this area without planning approval unfortunately. My pdf site information sheet sent at the time of booking includes directions and photographs of the site entrance. So I’m pleased you’ve commented as it’s given me the opportunity to add this into the text for future guests. Once again, thanks for taking the time to review and hopefully see you again 🙂 |

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I am glad you enjoyed the location and the opportunity to select your own pitch. I am sorry you do not feel you had good value for money, however, could I point out, prices are based on two people per tent which I believe is typical of most sites as I don't think anywhere gives a single person discount? Next year I will have a shower on hire during the peak season so hopefully that may tempt you back! |

Thank you so much for your review. Glad you found the site peaceful. I understand Porto loo isn’t ideal but unfortunately, planning laws prevent anything more permanent. Hope to see you again soon xx |

Local attractions
Check out Chester (15 minutes’ drive from the park), a city founded by the Romans in the 1st century AD and still with the red sandstone walls to prove it. Roam around the Rows in the old town too on the lookout for trinkets in the dual-level arcades before recharging with a sit down at the Roman amphitheatre slightly out of the centre.
Chester Zoo (10 minutes) is a little closer to the park than the city itself, so head here enroute to see the rhinos, big cats and red pandas. No car is necessary for visiting the underwater creatures at the Blue Planet Aquarium, however, as it's a 10-minute walk away.
To spend time outdoors, shuffle along the Shropshire Union Canal (five minutes’ drive); the "Shroppie", as the locals call it, branches off into the Llangollen and Montgomery canals over in north Wales (grand if you fancy a longer wander).
