What customers say

This well-kept campground's great location is perfect for exploring Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay, with handy bus routes. Guests love the friendly staff, clean facilities, and roomy sites. The on-site cafe/bar and large dog run are big hits. Some found the metered electricity and uneven pitches less ideal.

Power optional gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked We enjoyed the picturesque surroundings.
The amenities were fine. Food served in cafe very enjoyable and not overpriced. It was great to have Whitby town nearby.

Disliked Pitches quite uneven, had a few goes before getting van level. Would ask for a flatter pitch when coming again.Charges for electricity much higher than any other park we have stayed at.

Power optional gravel and cement/asphalt RV campsite

Liked Good location. Things for the children to do (parks), dog walking field and cafe/pub (although this often didn’t appear open when we stayed). Facilities basic but clean, although the site was very quiet.

Disliked No correspondence regarding the recent Moores fires before arriving. Lots of road closures which made access difficult and were not informed of this prior to arrival. Not given any update or information once arriving either.
Showering was difficult with young child as cubical were very small and no family bathrooms.

Power optional gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked The bar was a nice seating area

Disliked Very small pitches crammed close together.
The showers where you stand to have shower the water from the 4 showers gathers around your feet. With the drains clogged with hair this wasn't a nice experience.
Ques for toilets, shower and dishwasher.
Supposed to stay 2 nights left after 1.

Liked The pods were a good size, clean and had power. Great location, easy walk/cycle along the cinder track to Robin Hoods Bay/Whitby.
The bbq/live music was a great addition.

Disliked Toilets/shower block dirty at times.
Overly complicated bar/cafe for ordering

Power optional grass tent campsite (large)

Liked Site clean and tidy, all staff were friendly and helpful.

Pub/cafe was lovely and dog friendly. They had a brilliant singer on one of our nights.

The woman who checked us in was very helpful and offored us advise on buses and electricity point. All staff were helpful and friendly.

Disliked The toilets were filthy, even after cleaning. The drains were blocked and the whole room was flooded most mornings and evenings.

Many of the toilets were blocked throughout the day and would be filled with toilet roll and poo until they were un blocked at lunchtime the following day when they were closed for cleaning.

The site was beautiful they could just do with an upgrade to the toilet/shower block.
Would have also been nice to have better mirrors and a place to dry your hair.

Local attractions

York House Caravan Park is nicely located on the eastern edge of the North York Moors National Park. It's a short drive from here to Robin Hood’s Bay (five minutes’ drive), where ghost walks tell the story of times gone by. For a small taste of the village's smugglers' history, head to the museum. For hikers, there are fine choices around such as the 109-mile Cleveland Way (five minutes) through the North York Moors, and the Coast to Coast Path (five minutes) ending at Robin Hood’s Bay. Those who prefer to travel at higher speeds can take the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from the station in Whitby (10 minutes) – after spending some time exploring the famed abbey, of course. Goathland (20 minutes) is a popular destination – it's the home of the TV series 'Heartbeat' and starred in the Harry Potter films too. There are so, so, so many pretty spots along the coast that you might find it hard to choose where to spend your time. However, Ravenscar (20 minutes), a pretty coastal village with splendid cliffs, and the more ‘happening’ Scarborough (half an hour) are some very nice picks.
