Liked Nice small quiet site. Shower was great, lots of hot water, good water pressure and clean as were the toilets

Disliked Nobody there to welcome us or no information on where we should pitch our van. A number of old disused vehicles that seemed to have been abandoned. Not a lot of signs to show where everything is.

Liked Great reception on arrival, quick and friendly. Close to the village, all amenities and River Chet. Excellent Indian restaurant, Indian Palace opposite the site entrance.

Disliked Untidy parts of the site which need attention, particularly the bins and washing up areas.

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Basic campsite as described. We stayed for a night and as it was rainy there wasn’t many other guest, just a few other people who look like they live on site.
Plenty nearby such as fish and chips, Chinese, pubs and a Coop. Nice little walks nearby.
Toilet block comprises 1 shower, 1 sink and two toilets, it’s unisex.

Disliked The site as a whole looks like it needs a bit of a tidy up. There was an old hot tub that had dropped to bits right next to the toilet block, tables knocked over laying on their sides.
On the particular night we stayed we were woken up at 2.30am by someone shouting for a lost dog, went on for about 2 hours. Not the sites fault, just unfortunate.

Primitive grass and earth tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked This was a last minute booking so I just checked it meet my needs and looked at the rest later!
Currently there is one block of facilities available which has a shower, one standard toilet and one large toilet with a baby change. The second blank is being developed.
This is just off the main road for the village so it’s convenient for shops.
The ground here is soft/sandy grass which makes pegging really easy. The ground does slope down towards the marina.
The young lass at the reception was very nice and helpful. She has small plants and jewellery for sale there too.
There are no bins on site but this is mentioned in the site info.
There also appears to be work being done on making some hard standing pitches. It’s a work in progress but is a good base camp anyway.

Disliked Minor point that the sign says marina and not camping so at first I went passed it!

Liked It was such a convenient spot run by very flexible and understanding people. I had to leave my caravan on site for an extra few days due to car issues and they were really good about it.

Local attractions

One of the major draws in Norfolk is The Broads National Park – and you'll easily be able to explore the waterways from here, perhaps hiring a boat from Loddon Marina or canoes from Beccles (15 minutes' drive). Walks and bike rides are equally rewarding in these landscapes, and there are loads of woodland activities and adventures to throw into the mix at BeWILDerwood Norfolk (half an hour). The coast is just as enticing of course; top spots nearby include Great Yarmouth (25 minutes) for an action-packed day at the beach and amusements, or Winterton-on-Sea (40 minutes) for a quieter wander through the dunes. Heading inland instead, Norwich (25 minutes) has a castle and cathedral, plus lots of indie shops and places to eat. Keeping the kids busy should be a cinch around here, what with the likes of Africa Alive (25 minutes), Pleasurewood Hills Family Theme Park (half an hour) and Pettitts Animal Adventure Park (35 minutes) to visit. For grownup days, try Chet Valley Vineyard (five minutes), Henstead Exotic Gardens (20 minutes) or Norfolk and Suffolk Aviation Museum (20 minutes).
