  • Secluded back-to-nature site on a peaceful 16-acre farm
  • Worcester city centre and Malvern Hills within 15 minutes' drive
  • Meet farm animals on site; farm park with café and fishing next door
‘The theme here is peace and quiet – with just the sounds of the countryside’ say the owners of Tinkers Field Farm… and doesn’t that just sound like a lovely soundtrack for your Worcestershire break? You’ll only be about 15 minutes’ drive from Worcester city centre here – but you’ll probably feel like urban life is many miles away from the peaceful 16-acre farm. The owners limit guest numbers on site so there’s plenty of space for all at the pitch area, which is at the far end of the farm, flanked by a brook. Of course, this is a farm so you’ll also be sharing the space with the permanent residents, which include Gloucester Old Spot pigs, sheep, ducks, chickens and turkeys. Give them a wave as you wander by – and see if the site staff have collected any eggs for your breakfast. You’ll be allowed to bring along a barbecue for your outdoor cookery, and there’s a pub half a mile away serving good-value meals and ales if you’d rather head out. Pitches here are spacious and pleasingly flat, with easy access to footpaths for those who’d like to take a wander. One place that’s simple to get to is the neighbouring farm park, which is five minutes’ walk away and has fishing lakes and a small café. For longer walks, the top end of the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is only about 15 minutes’ drive away. Life on site is all about sustainability so facilities are minimal, but you will have access to a fresh water standpipe and a compost toilet – and an excellent one it is too, up on a raised platform with fabulous views over the Malvern Hills.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Sarah was so friendly and helpful. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a brilliant time and made the most of the surrounding area. Kids loved feeding the animals and going for walks. They enjoyed visiting the near by park farm and having the chance to feed deers and donkeys there also. Brilliant camping trip, lovely location.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: We wanted a peaceful campsite where we could have a bbq and sit round a fire after hiking for the day. Sarah and her children were lovely, they met us at the gate and showed us where everything was. Loved having the campsite to ourselves and being so close to the animals. Sarah provided a fire pit and loads of wood. We could have walked to the pub if we had wanted but we were quite happy staying put. The 'loo with a view' was great.

Disliked: The stand pipe was quite a way from the pitches so take a water carrier for now - there may be plans to move it closer.

Bell tent

Liked: I couldn’t praise this site enough, everything was catered for, I stayed with my three young children in the bell tent and we arrived to a little goodie bag of treats for the kids, croissants for the morning, we all slept like a dream, the bed and children’s beds were so comfy. We stupidly bought all the wood and fire starters but forgot the fire pit and the lovely owner bought one down for us to use for the weekend :) there’s a lovely farm 5 minutes walk away with a really good cafe and lots of animals, lots of lovely walks. The children also loved the animals on the site and had lots of fun getting apples from the apple tree and feeding them to the pigs.

Disliked: Nothing

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked: Second time staying here, this time with the young uns. They loved seeing the pigs and sheep, and especially loved talking to the turkeys. The composting toilet was a great novelty, my daughter really enjoyed having a poo with a view. A 10 minute walk past some ponds takes you to a lovely cafe with great food, a play area and more farm animals including chickens, donkeys, goats, alpacas and 2 tortoise. A very peaceful campsite with loads of space for the kids to run wild and an ample supply of fire wood for toasting marshmallows.

From the manager: Thanks for another rewarding review Jeremy, lovely to see you back with the little ones. Sarah

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Such a welcoming and warm host. The nicest camping loo I’ve ever used. Sarah was so helpful and considerate and gave us wood for a fire and replenished it if we used a lot. She offered us fresh produce she was growing and wouldn’t take my money, she let myself and my daughter pick it ourselves. We fed the pigs our left over fruit and petted the sheep. We were blessed with wonderful weather and found it a fantastic spot, and we will be returning. There were no constraints on leaving times or requests to pay up front. The ground was flat, mowed, and very pleasant. Host Sarah was more than happy for our dogs to be off lead, as long as they come back when called.

Disliked: 4G signal, sometimes 3G. But then it’s nice to put the devices down and enjoy the surroundings.

Primitive grass RV campsite

Liked: Beautiful campsite in idyllic surroundings. I spent a very relaxing 3 nights here. Lots of walks straight from the site. The composting toilet is very well made, and kept very clean. There are some sheep, pigs, chickens and turkeys on the site that were lovely to see. The owners are extremely friendly and couldn't have done any more to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed. Will definitely be staying here again. Thank you very much.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked: Lovely owner , gorgeous land and scenery.

Disliked: The site was empty, which with young kids was a little unnerving . There was a party with very loud music on till 1am so no one could get any sleep. as much a we loved the pigs the noise from the pen was loud and frightening for the kids.

From the manager: Hi Polly thank you for the review. We pride ourselves that our site is very quiet and exclusive, but totally understand that it may have felt too empty if not looking for that. Unfortunately, it appears that the farm down the road had a barn dance for a 40th birthday celebration that we were not warned about, apologies that this appeared to go on quite late. If you are ever looking for an overnight stop enroute to the South again, we would be very pleased to welcome you and your delightful family back and we would find you a spot further away from the animals. Happy Holidays!

Local attractions

Countryside pursuits nearby might include fishing (next door at Cob House Countryside Park), horse riding from Tipton Hall Riding School (15 minutes’ drive) or swinging through the trees at Go Ape Wyre (25 minutes) – perhaps followed by a local cider picked up from Lingens Farm (five minutes). If country houses are more of your thing, plan trips to Witley Court and Gardens (10 minutes) and National Trust - Brockhampton (20 minutes) or learn about one of England’s great composers at National Trust - The Firs: Elgar’s Birthplace (five minutes). For a different kind of history, head to Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb (10 minutes), said to be the oldest motorsport venue in the world still running races. Of course, you’ll need to visit Worcester (15 minutes) at some point too – perhaps to see the cathedral and Tudor House Museum, watch some cricket or just stroll on the banks of the River Severn.
