Gravel pitches

General

  • Touring pitches behind a 17th-century village pub in Defford
  • A 10-minute drive from Upton upon Severn; 25 minutes from Worcester
  • Pub with food, local ales and beer garden; farm shop across the road

The Oak Inn Defford is a traditional 17th-century pub in the Worcestershire countryside, just outside the village of Defford and 25 minutes’ drive from Worcester.

Views from the site look out over the Malvern Hills and Bredon Hill, and it’s also a short journey to the banks of the rivers Avon and Severn (all very promising for those looking to give their walking boots a bit of a workout, then). It’s also well situated for the various festivals at Upton upon Severn and events at the Three Counties Showground.

Touring pitches behind the pub are fairly frill-free, in that they don’t have showers, toilets or hookups, but they’ll certainly give you a peaceful place to park up for the night while you sample the wares of the pub – whether that be a tasty meal in the restaurant, a pint of local ale or cider, or something from the shelves of gin and other delights. Rather cleverly, the landlords have set up a covered seating area outside so guests can sit out in the fresh air even when it’s a tad damp.

If you’d rather do a bit of your own alfresco cookery, you’re welcome to light up a barbecue back at your pitch (perhaps having picked up some ingredients from the farm shop over the road?)

Please note

The bar is open between 01/01 and 31/12.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

This site has no on-site toilet and shower facilities.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

The site does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dogs Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

Tents are not accepted at this park.

Bookings must not be for more than 28 consecutive nights.

Coronavirus update: please note that the pub is not currently serving food.

Great local pub. Two real ales (Wye Valley) both excellently kept but the locals mostly drank from the good range of ciders. Pitches level and spotlessly clean portaloos, with toilet paper!! Plenty of outside, undercover seating so easy to social distance either inside or out. Good local banter of you wanted to join in, but also fine just sitting and reading quietly. Pleasant and helpful staff. No restaurant yet but a van in the courtyard did decent burgers and a curry or two as well as Sunday lunch as a Yorkshire Pudding wrap. Decent prices in both the pub and the food van

    Disliked:

Not much really. Just off a mainish road so a little rush hour traffic nice but quieter than we expected

Lovely pub and very warm welcome from staff. No food is being served at the moment but there was a burger van parked on the carpark for meals.
£5 a night - portable toilets accessible 24 hrs. Parking is level and relatively private tot he rear of the pub.

Lovely location and farm shop across the road. Would recommend for anyone wanting to stay the night in a lovely quiet area.

    Dog friendly Pub
    Friendly service

Segregated areas for camper van also big enough for motor homes
Catering van on site which stayed open till 8:00pm. Typical burger van made to order. Portion sizes good and tasted nice.

    Disliked:

No outdoor toilet/shower. However you can use pub toilet. Not a big issue as only £5 a night.

Relaxed, informal check in and set up. Really friendly staff in pub - great impromptu live music session courtesy of ‘Scottish Dave’ with his trusty guitar. A memorable night topped off with delicious burger from burger bar in car park, and just 100 yds walk to Car park to fall into bed.
