Lush site

General

  • Cosy canvas glamping on a Warwickshire farm
  • A couple of minutes' drive from Twycross Zoo
  • Heated communal space with kitchen and luxury showers

Slap, bang and exceedingly central: if you like to burrow deep into countryside for a glamping good time and still be glitteringly close to towns, cities and well-known attractions, Gopsall Hall Farm is the place tipi.

A base for you and the kids – and the dogs – at Gopsall Hall Farm will put your holiday party a couple of minutes from Twycross Zoo and less than six miles from Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and the National Forest. The city lights of Leicester are about 45 minutes’ drive to the east, Derby about an hour north, and the galleries and museums of busy Birmingham about half an hour away – just as well the glamping back at base comes with comfy memory foam beds for sinking into afterwards…

Each canvas glamping unit has electric hook-up and sleeps up to five humans and three dogs; bed linen is provided but please bring your own sleeping bags and towels. Barbecues are allowed on site, and each unit also comes with an outdoor firepit to use free of charge.

No need to bring plates or utensils either: potter over to The Barn, a heated communal space for all guests with small kitchen and dining area along with luxury showers and hairdryers (better keep the barnet in tip(i)-top condition for all those nearby day trips). Further swish showers are scattered around the site to ensure no one has to totter too far to clean up.

Please note

The site caters for families (immediate members) and couples only - bookings from all other forms of groups are not accepted.

No bachelor/bachelorette parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Group bookings of 3 or more units (e.g. tent, touring caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

From arriving on site, you know your in for a great trip... a mile a way from the road, surrounded by next to nothing. The tents looked fabulous on arrival, opening ours certainly did not disapoint- foam mattresses, electric heater, lights, a three pin power socket and a basket of fire wood. The barn is well equipped with exceptionally well maintained facilities - toilets and showers that are cleaner than most hotels. To top it off, it also bosts a communal fridge, microwave, kettle and even a hob. The site is clearly very well run and maintained, you just simply arrive and relax. The fire pit is a great touch which allows you to enjoy the outdoors even in cooler climate. Guaranteed a great night's sleep, only noise around is the weather and the wildlife. I will definitely be returning and will be quick to recommend it to others.

Honestly, there is nothing to dislike. Other guests are a good distance away and the management aren't overbearing - infact we didn't even see them... there were no issues what so ever posing no need to call them. So maybe the only dislike is not been able to thank them in person for such a perfect visit.

The tents are amazing have cute decor and even have heaters in. The location itself is beautiful and rural but also short drive to local activities etc. Can not fault it good value for money and is always a lovely stay!

From the manager...

Thanks for the review, we provide complimentary firewood and send information on what guests might want to bring in advance, which includes firelighters (unless we have Bear Grylls or Ray Mears staying ;-) )

We do endeavour to keep some firelighters and matches in stock but it seems they must have gone. We will sort! :-)

Thanks again! :-)

Loved how easy and simple it was to settle in and when we called for help, someone arrived on site in only a few minutes. The facilities inside the building were more than enough for our needs. It’s was a really lovely experience and would definitely recommend it to a few of my friends.

    Disliked:

When we arrived our star tent had not been put up so I had to ring to ask someone to help out. But other than that I didn’t dislike much! It would be helpful if fire lighters and coal were also available to use.

From the manager...

Many thanks for the review, hope to see you again :-)

The bell tent we stayed in was well equipped with mattresses, sheets and pillows, an electric fire, lights, decorative baskets for storage. Each bell tent/tipi had its own outdoor canvas shelter with a picnic bench and fire pit, wood was provided daily for the fire pit. We also had access to a bbq (bring your own charcoal). There was a communal living area on site providing a bathroom (two toilets and a shower) each for men and women. Hair dryer available in each bathroom. There was a kitchen with fridge freezer, toaster, kettle, microwave and hob (no oven) and a dining room to seat 4. Dog friendly and dogs to be on leads at all time. Owners were really helpful with enquiries before and during stay. Lovely rural location, half hour walk to the nearest pub.

Local attractions

To the zoo! Less than two miles from base, Twycross Zoo and World Primate Centre is the only place in the UK where visitors can gibber to all species of great ape among its thousand or so residents from 200 species. The zoo has a nature reserve and soft play area too to swing around in, and daily activities like keeper talks and animal feeds (wave at the meerkats when they pop up for supplies each morning and the penguins waddling around each afternoon).

Twycross is at Atherstone, Gopsall Hall Farm’s local town on the border with Leicestershire – the Coventry Canal runs through town too to snap scenic shots along the towpath including ones of the Coventry Art Trail, public pieces put up here by local artists.

Since Rick 3 was rediscovered in 2012 under a Leicestershire car park, interest in the possibly-bad king has skyrocketed, so make room for a day at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre to find out all the up-to-date info. (Sadly, however, whether he did bump off his nephews in the Tower is still a matter of fierce academic debate).

Townwise, Market Bosworth and Ashby-de-la-Zouch, possible adolescent home of one Mr Adrian Mole, Esq, are both within ten to 15 miles for additional day trips: make it midweek for the former as Bosworth’s Wednesday market has been running since the 13th century.

Must see

  • Twycross Zoo (3.4 kilometers)
  • Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre (8.1 kilometers)

  • Staunton Harold Church (14.2 kilometers)
