  • Family-run dairy farm and fishery with views over The Roaches
  • Short drive to Alton Towers, Peak Wildlife Park and Tittesworth Water
  • On-site farm shop and farm animals; 10 minutes' walk to two local pubs
Set on the southern edge of the Peak District National Park, Brooklyn Grange Farm is a back-to-basics site on a family-run dairy farm surrounded by gorgeous Staffordshire countryside. The scenery here is varied indeed, with views over quiet fishing pools, grassy meadows and the spectacular rocky ridge known as The Roaches. You'll also be well placed to sample local produce at this small-scale site – you can head to the farm shop, which sells eggs, bacon, sausages, cheese, barbecue meats and other goodies, or grab a local ice cream, milkshake or fresh milk from the on-site Milk Barn. You're welcome to light up a barbecue, as long as it's kept off the grass. If you don't have your own, there are firepits for hire (a cash deposit is required) from the farm shop and kindling and logs for sale. There's also a village pub and carvery around 10 minutes' walk away on the edge of Thorncliffe (with another around 10 minutes' walk away in Blackshaw Moor). For more flavours, try Leek (five minutes' drive), a local market town with a good range of restaurants, cafés and food shops. After a trip to town it's back to the countryside, where you might like to try a spot of catch-and-return fishing at one of the site's well-stocked ponds (for an extra fee, to be booked and paid for at the on-site farm shop; you must have an Environment Agency licence; no fishing available during the spawning season, which is generally in late May and/or early June). You could also take yourself off for a hike in the national park (a mile away), where there are many miles of well-mapped trails to explore. As for facilities, Brooklyn Grange Farm has functional and well-maintained toilets for guests. There is one shower available here (bookable for an extra charge at the farm shop), or you can take the option of travelling five minutes down the road to Brough Park Leisure Centre.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Really good farm shop and honestly really conveniently placed camp site, being a 5 minute drive from leek which had everything you need and 10 minutes from the entrance to the Peak District

Disliked Only one shower and one proper toilet (not a portaloo) on the right field, so queues likely if you are to go on a busy weekend.

Liked Lovely friendly site..staff showed us around on arrival.
Had a great pitch with beautiful views.
Ice cream delicious and farm animals gorgeous.

Disliked Washing up area was boggy and people not always good at cleaning up after themselves leaving food in the plug holes and on the drainer.

Stuart W.

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Field was relatively flat which made pitching easier and made for a better night.
Loved the shop and the working farm around us which gave it a nice feel. Facilities were sufficient, clean.

Disliked We had someone come along while we were at the pub and pitch about 10ft in front of us when there was no real reason as there was lots of room. Understand that's not the issue of the site. Possibly mark out some pitching areas to stop this?

Primitive grass tent, campervan or trailer tent campsite

Liked Casual ‘find a space on the field and park in it’ approach. Farm shop with coffee.

Disliked Facilities could do with a refresh. 3 toilets and one shower across 2 fields of potentially over 200 people isn’t enough, causing queues for both.
