  • Environmentally friendly campsite in the Shropshire countryside
  • Ironbridge Gorge Museums a 20-minute drive; 40 minutes to Shrewsbury
  • Each pitch equipped with firepit, eco-loo, shower and picnic table
Up your green credentials with a wild camping mini-break at Worfe Camping, near Shifnal in rural Shropshire. In this lovely little spot a handful of spacious pitches border the Worfe river on a 48-acre family farm committed to sustainable, eco-friendly agriculture. Each pitch comes with its own sole-use shower with hot water, along with an eco toilet, a washing-up area and a picnic table. You also get a firepit, along with unlimited kindling and firewood – and that means it’s easy enough to get your barbecue on the go too if you'd like to bring one. As an added bonus, you can fill up your grill with rare-breed pork or lamb from the on-site farm shop. For a change of scenery, you can always down tools and tuck into good food and local beers at a couple of pubs within a 10-minute drive. Whether you want to watch the wildlife from your peaceful riverside pitch, or get out and active, there’s never a dull moment here. You might fancy fancy paddling through Ironbridge Gorge on a raft, picking up circular routes for walking or cycling, or spending the day exploring the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. A couple of house rules: the site is a car-free zone, with parking up by the farmhouse, and wheelbarrows are available to hump your stuff to the pitches. Quiet time starts at 10.30pm, so no amplified music after then, please.

Express primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite (no cars)

Liked Lovely campsite, really easy to find. The hosts are very helpful and friendly. The pitch was really nice, with our own toilet and shower block and washing up area, we had to share it with some other campers but only because we stayed one night, I believe if you stay 2 or more nights it's all to yourself. For £10 you can have an open fire with unlimited wood. There is a quiet room with wi-fi and a sofa where you can chill and buy some basics. Betty the lamb was the highlight of the stay!

Disliked Nothing !

From the manager: Hello, thank you for your kind words.
The express pitches are always shared facilities,( and is reflected in the price ) ideal for walkers ,cyclists and drop- ins for mostly one nighters.
We also have ensuite Jumbo pitches with private facilities minimum stay two nights, includes picnic bench, tarpauline, fire pit and fire wood ( free) and your own shower cubicle and compost toilet. I hope this explains it a bit better. Anne & Eva

Panoramic view primitive grass RV campsite

Liked This is one of the best site we have ever been, with lovely owners. The pitch size is huge and you have your own toilet, hot shower and washing facility. This is a site where you can sit, relax and enjoy your drink. There are plenty of activities around the site to do, the owner put on board what is going on in the area so you know. There is fridge- freezer if you need to put you perishable food. You can buy home made sausages which are lovely, bacon, eggs and few other essentials you can pay by card too 😜. Fire pits and logs are available to make you evening more enjoyable

Disliked Nothing to dislike

From the manager: Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are glad to hear you have had a nice time. Hope to see you again soon. :)

Primitive grass tent campsite (riverside)

Liked Lovely spot. The 6 pitches are dotted along a stream, each with individual toilet/shower/washing up blocks which was a welcome touch. Each pitch has an awning, picnic table and fire-pit (ingenious repurposed washing machine drum). The host Tim was a lovely guy and even offered to pick up some milk for us when he was popping to the shops. There is a small 'tack room' on site selling a few basics including their own sausages and bacon (bread and milk not available). Would highly recommend, had a great time.

super generous pitches to forfill your dreams of quiet calm camping!

Panoramic view primitive grass RV campsite

Liked The pitch was more than perfect, at first i though it was way over generous, but after a few days to unwind me and my partner really appreciated the experience of being so far from anyone else, it gave us space to actually dissconect from the outside world to fully relax and recoup which is exactly what was needed!

we loved just being able to look after ourselves with our own facilities, which were fab too.

Great break for families

Local attractions

It’s all about the history in these parts. Take yourselves off to Ironbridge Gorge Museums (20 minutes’ drive) to see where the Industrial Revolution began in the 1760s. This gaggle of historical hotspots overlooks footpaths next to the River Severn, and there are loads of cafés to refuel in, plus lots of themed events to look out for during the summer. With cobbled streets to explore, a 19th-century-style fair, and old-world shops selling old-world sweets, Blists Hill Victorian Town (15 minutes) is pretty good at keeping kids’ attention. Chances are they’ll have fun on the Bridgnorth Cliff Railway (20 minutes) too, as it crawls up its steep cliffside and reveals glorious views over the town and the Severn. The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford (15 minutes) has decommissioned Lancaster bombers and simulator rides in wartime hangars, and it’s well worth spending an afternoon pottering around Shrewsbury (40 minutes), packed with Tudor-style half-timbered buildings and museums.
