  • Family-run dog-friendly farm site in Cropredy village
  • A 20-minute drive to British Motor Museum; 40 mins to Blenheim Palace
  • Wood-fired pizzas on busy weekends; a short walk to pubs and cafés
Fancy a farm stay, but not so keen on the idea of navigating little country lanes? Set off to Oxfordshire and The Old Dairy Farm Caravan and Camping: getting here involves a mere 10-minute detour from the M40 at Banbury. That location makes this a most handy spot for motorway stopovers, but there’s plenty around to please those who choose to stay longer too. However long you stay at this family-run farm, you’ll not want to miss out on meeting the pygmy goats and free-range chickens and peering into the aviary; once the kids have done that, send them off for a proper run about on the large recreational field to tire them out before bedtime. Handy too are the smart and well-maintained facilities, including a toilet block, showers, a washing-up area, water supply and Elsan point. The wood-fired pizza oven gets going on busy weekends (and it’s also available for private hire if you’re having a gathering). Don’t worry if there’s no pizza action while you’re here: it’ll take just a few minutes to walk to Cropredy’s pubs, cafés and shop (or its play park). It’s also possible to walk to the Oxford Canal and River Cherwell for waterside wanders, and a short drive will get you out into the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for more walks, plus golf courses, fishing lakes and National Trust estates. In the main this is a peaceful site, but it's worth noting that a rail line passes fairly close by so you may hear a bit of noise from the pitches (or even spot trains – much to the delight of young rail enthusiasts).

What customers say

This family-friendly campsite boasts ample space, clean amenities, and a friendly vibe. Kids love the animals (goats!), playground, and bouncy castles. On-site food and a shop are handy. While some heard train noise and wished for facility updates, most found it great value and a relaxing spot, planning to come back.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked My children really enjoyed feeding the goats, and the playground with the bouncy castles was a big hit. The on-site shop is well-stocked with everything you might need for camping, and the prices are very reasonable.

Disliked That said, there are a few things that could be improved. There’s no barrier at the entrance, so anyone can come and go at any time. Personally, I prefer campsites with a barrier that’s closed at night—it just feels safer.

We stayed from Saturday to Tuesday in the lower part of the campsite, and unfortunately, the toilets in that area weren’t cleaned at all during our stay. While toilet paper was restocked, the floors and toilet facilities were in a poor state. I understand these toilets are older than the ones near reception, but they still need regular cleaning.

The showers were only cleaned once while we were there, and with only four shower blocks available, it didn’t feel like enough to handle the weekend crowds.

Liked Loved the site. Booked it last minute and we were lucky to get the last spot with electric hook-up.
Staff were great.
Site is brilliant if you have children. And even if you don't it's a great site to visit. And the onside bat and shop was a great addition for us.
Just a shame we didn't find the site earlier or we would have definitely stayed a few extra nights

10-amp powered grass campsite

Liked This is a charming campsite with a fantastic bar & takeaway. The children’s park is really good too along with the added bonus of goats and birds. The staff were so lovely and helpful. It is a very lively happy campsite close to cropredy village. The fire pit hire was a hit with us, a really great facility….& Shop although tiny, had all the necessities.

Disliked The only thing that we think could be changed for the better is that groups are put together away from single unit bookings. We arrived and it was super peaceful… then a group of 7 different units arrived next to us and they couldn’t help being noisy because they were excited to be together…but I think it may have been nice to have been offered a quieter pitch on check in….logistics might be an issue though.

Liked Very family friendly site with so much for younger children. Facilities were great, bouncy castles, petting animals, food, bar and washing facilities could not fault any of it. My grandchildren loved their very first camp.

Liked Had an amazing couple of nights stay on our first time going in our caravan as a family. Staff were very polite and welcoming! So nice to see kids being kids, running around having fun, playing football and playing on the bouncy castles. Food was lovely with great prices, bar was even better with a good range of drinks and not pricey! The kids loved feeding the goats and seeing the birds. We will definitely be back again we loved it!

Disliked Male showers were not the cleanest.

Local attractions

Coming to the Cotswolds for a bit of fresh air and gentle activity? Set forth for fishing at Clattercote Reservoir, or tee off at Cherwell Edge Golf Course; both are about 10 minutes away by car. Country walking routes are plentiful too, of course, as are fine buildings to mooch around. Blenheim Palace (40 minutes’ drive) is perhaps the best known of all the Oxfordshire stately homes (and with good reason, for ’tis fab) but it’s worth taking a look at some others too, including Farnborough Hall (10 minutes), Sulgrave Manor (20 minutes) and Upton House and Gardens (20 minutes). For a break from the classic Cotswolds activities, head out to meet the big birds of Fir Tree Falconry (15 minutes) or sigh over all the shiny machines at the British Motor Museum (20 minutes). And if you’re in need of a tipple or two to accompany your barbecue back at base, there are some excellent local ones to be acquired at Hook Norton Brewery (25 minutes) and the Cotswolds Distillery (half an hour).
