What customers say

Popular, friendly site with a relaxed vibe. Great spot by the River Trent for walks & pubs. Staff, esp. Martin, are praised. Facilities are basic, need update, but clean & functional, with a useful communal kitchen. Spacious pitches a plus. Some noted noise/crowding; facilities sometimes stretched.

Powered grass and earth campsite

Liked There was a good welcome and I could choose to pitch where I wanted. The staff were very helpful about my daughter joining me in her campervan, and about borrowing a fire pit.
Toilets and showers were well cleaned regularly.
Lovely area, lots of walks on the banks of the river Trent. Good pubs nearby.

Disliked The buildings need to be modernised. The septic tank was probably in need of emptying. The refuse area was very much in need of emptying and thoroughly clearing and cleaning g up.

Powered grass and earth campsite

Liked Absolutely lovely stay, even with the rain, it didn't stop us from having fun!

The lady in the office was super helpful, wish I had gotten her name. We had forgotten our hook up cable, no worries, they have spares, you just have to leave a deposit.

We hired a firepit for £5 a night and bags of logs are £10, fabulous. Love a fire. Part of the reason I booked this site. Allowing fires is a selling point for us.

Friday night we pitched up, had a bbq, a few bevvies and toasted marshmallows on the fire.

Saturday morning woke to sunshine, so we got our cook on and did a full English by the tent. Had a chill and a few gam3s with the kids.

Once everyone was ready we had a wander to the Wagon amd Horses 10 minute walk away. They have a great selection of pizzas and sampled a few more beers and wines. A bit of drizzle while there, but the large gazeebos on the back didn't stop the fun.

Went back to our tent. Made friends with our neighbours. All kids played together which was great.

The amenities were fab. A great kitchen with 2 sinks for washing up, a fridge freezer, microwave, toaster and kettle. The toilets were always clean and well stocked with loo roll.

The shower cubicles were a little small and there was nowhere to put your toiletries, won't put that in the dislikes though, as I did manage.

Loved the fact we didn't need to be off until 12pm, we got to enjoy a bit of breakfast and a cuppa in the sunshine before packing up. We will definitely be booking again

Thank you!

Powered grass and earth campsite

Liked Thank you for another brilliant stay. We always enjoy our time at Boat Lane. The space is perfect and the location is brilliant for walks along the River Trent and pub visits. There's plenty of space for our children to play and explore and I love giving them the opportunity to have fun and be outside in nature. The toilets and showers were lovely, kept spotless throughout our stay and always smelt beautiful - it was a smell that reminded me of camping during my childhood and I loved walking in to sniff it haha. I also liked the way the bin area is all fenced off keeping it hidden from the rest of the site. The hook up area is great and close to the toilets but there are also other non-electric areas closer to the river that we would love to try.

Primitive grass and earth campsite

Liked Friendly, accommodating staff on arrival.
Super choice of pitches and a high standard of cleanliness in the toilet blocks. Nice to have access to tea, coffee, toast too. Walked ten minutes to a lovely pub nearby.

Disliked Nothing.

Liked The staff - really friendly and helpful. The site facilities are amazing! This was our second time there and will definitely be staying again and such good x
Value for money.

Disliked If I really had to puck something it would be the toilets - they were not very clean. The toilet bowl was clean it was the bit around the top - under the seat.

Primitive grass and earth campsite

Liked Great location. Close to the river Trent and the nearby villages of Bleasby and Fiskerton.
Site itself is very spacious, with clean toilet, shower and washing up facilities. Even though it was very busy Martin does a great job keeping on top of everything.
It was my daughters first time camping and mine in a number of years and we both loved it mainly due to the site and the staff there. Nothing was too much trouble!

Primitive grass and earth campsite

Liked The nice welcome and the fire pit.
The location by the river, making it easy to paddle board.

Disliked No selective bins, and the trash section was a mess.
The campsite dog was running without lead or muzzle and growling at children.
The price for 1 night 1 person without electricity was very high.

Local attractions

A major hub since the days of Robin and his Merry Men, Nottingham (half an hour by car) still draws the crowds. Tour the castle and the caves, take a glass of ale in Ye Olde Trip To Jerusalem (one of many contenders for the oldest pub in England crown), skate on ice at Motorpoint Arena and see how far law and order’s come since the Sheriff’s time in the National Justice Museum. Sherwood Forest, three quarters of an hour away, harbours no brigands these days; within the nature reserve, country park and Sherwood Pines Forest Park you will find 450 acres of wildlife with among ancient oak trees and a wealth of biking and walking trails taking you through them. Traverse the tree-tops on ropes and wires at Go Ape, or let the kids loose on Robin Hood’s Hideout, an acclaimed natural play area; on your way back, call in at Ferry Farm Country Park a quarter of an hour from the site, to pet the pigs, feed the lambs, zoom about on go-karts and get adventurous on the adventure playground. If the ancient forest’s fired you up about history, make for Newark (25 minutes) with its castle, National Civil War Centre and Air Museum. Or to feel as if you stepped back in time, take the 45-minute trip to Wollaton Hall, where herds of red and fallow deer roam round a lake in the grounds of a stately Elizabethan mansion.
