Surrounded by open countryside, this peaceful Lincolnshire site is a five-minute drive from the village of Claypole (which has a grocery shop, a butcher’s and a pub serving food) and a 15-minute drive from Newark-on-Trent. A lavender-fringed driveway leads to the camping field, with spacious (and level) grass pitches for caravans, campers and motorhomes. Also on site are electric hook-ups, chemical disposal facilities and recycling points. Dogs are welcome, and there’s a seven-acre field where your canine companions can get their daily pre-breakfast and post-dinner walks. During the day, though, chances are they (and you) will want to explore the local area, perhaps going to Balderton Lake (15 minutes’ drive), with tree-shaded waterside walks; Londonthorpe Wood (25 minutes), where you might catch a glimpse of (or hear) woodpeckers; or dragonfly hotspot Whisby Nature Park (25 minutes). There are several fishing ponds and lakes within a 20-minute drive, including carp-stocked Cromwell Lake Fishery. Golf is another popular activity, with both driving ranges such as Newark Golf Centre (20 minutes) and clubs with lush fairways, such as Sudbrook Moor Golf Club (also 20 minutes).
