  • Friendly, family-run farm site within 15 minutes' drive of beaches
  • A 15-minute drive from Louth market town; half an hour from Skegness
  • On the main bus route from Lincoln to Mablethorpe (via Louth)
Based in the pretty rural village of South Reston near Louth, Holme Lea makes a handy base for exploring the beaches and wolds of lovely Lincolnshire. Welcoming families and (well-behaved) canines, pitches are scattered across a four-acre site that's neatly divided into two well-maintained and level grass paddocks sheltered by high hedges. This is a handy spot to stay in if you want to ditch the car – Holme Lea sits at the foot of the gorgeous Lincolnshire Wolds, with abundant cycle and walking routes to try out. The local village of South Reston is on a main bus route too, so you can catch regular services to Louth and Lincoln, or seaside towns including Mablethorpe (15 minutes’ drive) and Skegness (half an hour). The village also has a popular local pub, which you can walk to in five minutes; as well as serving a decent pint, it has a small essentials shop if you happen to run out of supplies. For those who want to fish, there are also fisheries within five minutes' drive of the site. Simple on-site facilities include a toilet block, emptying point and various drinking water points around the pitches. There's also a shower room (with sink, toilet and shower) available for a small extra charge.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Lovely site, good location for days out at the seaside. Well kept, clean and has what you need for a couple of nights under the stars. The owners were brilliant, super friendly and make you feel welcome. They also have bikes for the kids to play on which ours absolutely loved. Will definitely be back.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked We really enjoyed our stay at Holme Lea Campsite. There is plenty of pitch space, so it feels peaceful and never too crowded. The location is calm and quiet, which is great for relaxing. The owners are friendly and welcoming. It is also very child-friendly, with a play area and plenty of open space for children to play and enjoy themselves. There is lots of space for kids to cycle around safely as well. Overall, it is a lovely, peaceful campsite with plenty of space for families.

Disliked The toilet and shower facilities could be improved. There is only one paid shower available, which can create a long waiting time, especially when the campsite is busy. The cleanliness of the toilet facilities could also be improved. It would be great to have more shower facilities and better-maintained toilets.

From the manager: Hi

Thank you very much for your review. Pleased you and your family enjoyed their stay.

Can I confirm The toilets are cleaned and checked throughout the day. We have many reviews confirming cleanliness of facilities. The toilet unit itself is dated I agree, and is being renewed for 2027 season.

The shower room was added for tent campers who don’t have their own facilities. We do monitor it and even this August Bank Holiday with higher footfall there hasn’t been an issue of waiting for shower that we have seen.

We are trying to juggle keeping Pitchup fees as reasonable as possible as well as providing a good experience which is not easy.

Liked Friendly owners, family friendly good value for money

Disliked Amenities were not the best, only 1 paid for shower for the whole site and also only 1 womens toilet

From the manager: Hi

Thank you for your review. Hope you enjoyed your stay.

You mention our site being good value for money, but then the fact that you feel the facilities are not the best. You can see from previous feedback that the facilities are repeatedly described as clean which is the most important thing!. Were we to invest in renewing facilities the pitch fees would have to rise to account for that. We have one ladies toilet, plus another toilet in the shower room for ladies to use if need be. The majority of our customers are in caravans and motorhomes and have their own facilities and don't need to use those on site.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Very friendly owners, love that it’s pet friendly and they pitched us in a perfect place taking into consideration we had 3 cars, 2 big tents, a very large gazebo 3 dogs and 3 children we were right next to the little play park for the kids and not far at all from the toilets. Clean and tidy site toilets and shower were always clean.
Not a bad drive to fantasy island or mablethorpe and lovely local pubs. Grocery shops 10 minute drive away which was handy for us.

Disliked Maybe a better pot washing station could be installed

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Just stayed at the Holme Lea camping site. Wardens were brilliant. Very helpful. I stayed in the field behind the play area. Was quiet. People around me, were very friendly. Pitches are very big. And flat. Shower is a pound for a few minutes. Was plenty enough time for me. I took my bike. And visited 3 pubs. The best one, I recommend , is the the royal oak (the splash)
Food amazing. Setting lovely. Went into louth. Had a steak at the ranch. Booking is advised. Amazing place to eat.
Will be back again. 😊

Liked A simple site with spacious level pitches. Facilities well maintained . Friendly owners and staff.
Would happily recommend.

Disliked Not really a dislike but only two. W C's and one shower, wasn't a problem but could be.

From the manager: Hi

Thank you very much for your review much appreciated.

We do have two toilets and urinals in mens section and a ladies seperate with another toilet in the shower room. This is 90% of the time more than enough as most caravans and motor homes have their own facilities. We would 100% like to improve and add facilities but a juggle whilst trying to keep site fees as reasonable as possible at £24.

Regards Louise
