  • Quiet, rural adults-only site on the Leicestershire-Derbyshire border
  • Donington Park Circuit and the Cloud Trail both five minutes’ drive
  • Countryside views; 10 minutes’ walk from the village pub
Liking the sound of direct access to the National Forest, with its miles of scenic forest tracks for walking and cycling? How about adding in views of Derbyshire’s Priory Church of St Mary and St Hardulph atop Breedon Hill? Camping without any kids? If you’ve answered “yes” to all three questions, then you should be heading for Barley Fields Holidays on the Leicestershire-Derbyshire border. This peaceful adults-only site also has stunning views to the Peak District National Park to the north, or the Vale of Belvoir to the east. And just when you thought things couldn’t get any better, you’ll be pleased to learn that your dogs can join you, the site has modern showers and loos, and – although barbecues are allowed on site – you’re only 10 minutes’ stroll from a popular Breedon on the Hill pub that serves decent grub. So… on arrival, get set up and… just chill. Life will take care of itself. Sit back, relax, watch the horses in neighbouring fields and see if you can spot/hear any of the following: cuckoos calling in late spring, swallows arriving on their early summer stop-overs and birds of prey circling overhead. And on clear evenings, you’ll be sure of bagging a truly spectacular sunset. Sounds good, doesn’t it?

What customers say

This new, adult-only campsite is lauded for its beautiful setting, spotless modern facilities, and welcoming staff. Well-kept, level pitches boast lovely views. While some guests mentioned occasional aircraft or racetrack sounds, most found it peaceful. Motorhome facilities are evolving. Close to local pubs and walking trails.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely well run site, clean facilities, fabulous views. Ray was kind and helpful and we would be happy to visit again if we can.

Planes and Donnington not a problem, we enjoyed seeing planes take off and Donnington was a distant noise and not bothersome at all.

Breedon and the church were well worth a visit, lovely walks.

Some things were above and beyond control of the management but Ray did his utmost to resolve the problem.

We hope Barley Fields can reopen at some point in the future.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Lovely location, nice easy walk into Breedon with 2 good pubs. Rural outlook and excellent facilities.

Disliked Very disappointing that there were noisy children on site, despite us booking on the understanding that it was an adult only site. We had our dogs with us, who aren't great with children, so we left early unfortunately.

From the manager: Thanks for your review. We are strictly adults only but the children belonged to a traveller family who forced their way on to the site and refused to move on so apologies for this.

Great facilities and location.

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked Beautifully stunning views. Ray, Dave & their partners a were all on hand and went above and beyond over the weekend. Making us feel welcome.
Ray is clearly very proud of his site and so he should be.
Easy walks around the site to local village and church.
Airport near by gives a great view of planes landing and taking off
Personally loved the sound of the bikes racing round Doddington Race track. Actually had a lazy Saturday afternoon nap listening to them 😛

Disliked Nothing.
