Hardstanding pitch with water and electric

  • Family- and dog-friendly pub site a mile from Leominster on the A44
  • A 20-minute drive from Ludlow; 25 minutes from Hereford
  • Home-cooked meals, play area and 24-hour access to facilities
If you’re the type who loves the outdoors but is also rather fond of finishing a day out with a good feed and a proper pint, then it’s likely you’ll do rather well indeed at Barons Cross Inn. This welcoming pub site is in a highly handy Herefordshire location, a mile outside of Leominster on the A44 and sitting in a sweet spot in the middle of a triangle that has the Malvern Hills, the Shropshire Hills and the Brecon Beacons at its points. All of that means heaps of walks to be had in the vicinity, along with pretty villages to potter around (some of the best are linked on the nearby Black & White Trail driving route). Whatever you choose to do by day, you’ll surely be keen to get back to the pub, where the chef preps meals made with locally sourced ingredients (but kept at pub prices) and there’s a tempting collection of beers, ciders and wines. There's often something going on, such as quiz nights or live music, and everyone is made to feel welcome by the friendly staff. Restless kids and dogs can be entertained at the play area and the neighbouring field respectively. Guests have 24-hour access to a shower room and washing-up facilities. Breakfasts are available every day, and you’re welcome to light up a barbecue if you fancy doing your own cooking (there’s a supermarket five minutes’ walk away and a bus stop just outside the pub for easy access to shops).

What customers say

This site's a work in progress with new management. Guests love the friendly staff and great pub food (generous portions!). Facilities, especially the portaloo/shower, get mixed reviews (cleanliness/age). Convenient Leominster location, but some note road noise. Ongoing improvements noted.

Liked Fab little place. Quiet and got what people need.
Stayed here as a tester for one night with older autistic child (17) & younger child (3) to see how they coped with camping life.

Liked Friendly welcome and Great Food in the pub.

Disliked No Real Ale available, no presence on camping field to monitor off lead dogs crapping in various places and worrying our own, tethered dog, or youngsters that bowled up in camping cars on Saturday night and lit a fire pit when they were prohibited in tinderbox conditions all around the field. It did concern us, although to be fair they were considerate regarding noise levels late into the night.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked Price good, pitch flat and accessible. Not too crowded. Close to town centre where we got takeaway pizza from a very friendly fellow.

Disliked I had to ask where to pitch when I checked in, wasn't told about facilities eg where shower was. As a suggestion, informing people of this when they check in would be more welcoming instead of guest having to ask. Only one ladies toilet in pub working. Didn't try shower to comment

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Nice open space. Lots of room. Bus stop outside. Easy to find.

Disliked Run down. Very tired. Scruffy. No toilet access. Shower - well didnt even attempt it ! Very poor washing up facilities. No food at pub. Very sad indeed. It's a shame really, as could be lovely. Lots of traffic noise. Am afraid Pitch - up got it wrong this time!

Liked NOTHING

Disliked Absolutely nothing like it was advertised on pitch-up. 7 nights booked stayed three.ABSOLUTELY FILTHY EVERYWHERE !!! Access to toilets (one per gender ) locked at night to 9 in the morning, shower ( again 1 per gender)did not work, no hot running water to wash hands. No food available in the pub
But wouldn’t have eaten in there anyway as it most certainly wouldn’t have had a hygiene certificate. The bear garden consisted of GRASS.
You site information is ALL FALSE!

Local attractions

Start with a little stroll around Leominster, a mile away – it’s a handsome market town with a grand priory and streets lined with independent shops to poke around in. For more active times, it’s also got a swimming pool and a golf course (about 10 minutes’ drive from the pub). If you’d like to take your urban wanders a little further, check out the foodies’ fave Ludlow (20 minutes’ drive) or head into Hereford (25 minutes) to see the cathedral, the Mappa Mundi exhibition and the Hereford Cider Museum. Keeping it all a little more country, venture to the Small Breeds Farm Park and Owl Centre (20 minutes) to get up close to the animals, wander through Westonbury Mill Water Gardens (15 minutes) or learn a little bit about cheesemaking at Monkland Cheese Dairy (five minutes). If you’re heading out for a hike, the Shropshire Hills, Malvern Hills and Brecon Beacons are all within 40 minutes’ drive.
