  • Small and friendly site 100 yards from the River Severn
  • Next to a riverside 15th-century pub; Great Malvern 25 minutes' drive
  • A 50-minute walk into the historic town of Tewkesbury
Take time out for a spot of fishing on the River Severn, followed by a drink in the 15th-century inn (with varying opening times) next-door to the site, where the views are as tasty as the food and drink. The Willows is a small and friendly site in a spectacular and hugely handy location… Despite being encircled by lush scenery with the river (and separately owned pub) a mere hundred yards away, it’s also a 50-minute walk into the lovely historic town of Tewkesbury and a 15-minute drive from the outskirts of the Malvern Hills National Landscape. You can pick up your freshwater fishing permit in the pub (as if you needed an excuse for a visit...). In Tewkesbury, tour the abbey, gardens and museum or do a round of the cafés. If you fancy zipping off to the Malvern Hills for the day, there are plenty of hikes within a short drive or lively Great Malvern is within 25 minutes' drive of the site. The local countryside and riverbanks are great for ramblers and guests can find boat and bike hire, windsurfing and golf courses nearby. The country lanes and honey-coloured stone of the Cotswolds National Landscape can be accessed around half an hour's drive away, too. Around the site, there are splendid views of the river and lots of green space. Guests are welcome to bring their dogs along for their holiday. Barbecues are also given the green light, so don't forget to pick up your groceries while out pottering around Tewkesbury.

What customers say

Beautiful riverside spot near a popular pub. Reviewers praise spacious, quiet pitches. Facilities are basic, dated, and need updating, some finding them unclean. Still, great location and value make it appealing for many.

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked Excellent location, very tranquil and the pub next door is lovely and can’t do enough for you.

Disliked The site feels neglected and desperately needs some TLC. Hardstanding pitches haven’t been treated and are overgrown. The whole site hasn’t been mowed. The toilets/showers are not looked after. We were in a caravan so had our own shower, I would not use the ones on site. The toilet block had not been cleaned before we arrived - a manky towel on the floor and a full to over-flowing bin in one of the cubicles which remained for the whole of our stay. For these reasons I think £30 per night is too expensive but because of the location I would stay again - maybe on the pub site

Liked The pub and site in front of it. Perfect.

Disliked Disgusting. Long grass. Couldn’t even see the gravel pitch we paid for. Filthy all round. How the hell he gets away with it I don’t know. No electric for some poor camper folk other side from us. Showers toilet needs condemning. Thank god for the pub

Liked Beautiful location, right by the river. Spacious pitch - although I think this was not intentional but more because there were no marked pitches (although neat pitches are shown in their photos of the site).

Disliked 3 day rap/drum and base music festival in practically on site, shower block should be condemned, did I mention the 3-day music festival that played from midday to early hours which meant we couldn’t leave the site easily. What should have been a lovely quiet bank holiday weekend in beautiful sunshine was completely ruined. So bad we actually left a day early and were refused a refund with the excuse of what do we expect so close to a pub. The pub was not the issue, we should have been warned this event would be on our door step. The noise level was unacceptable. Avon Estates I’m waiting for a response to my complaint

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked The only thing I liked was leaving first thing in the morning

Disliked The site looks untidy and dated,Grass needed cutting ,site warden wasn't over helpful ,just pointed at the field and said choose a spot, no introduction or explain about facilities.
Gravel/grass pitch was covered in grass weeds growing through gravel .
The toilet block very dated and uncleaned (good job we self sufficient) no hand soap, dirty sinks, and urinals .
The elsan disposal point unsafe with decking upto it and round ,looked and felt like its ready to collapse.
No signage to show where it was .
Might be ok for some people ,the only reason i stopped was id been driving for 5 hrs and was shattered ,wont be returning

Powered grass and gravel travel trailer campsite

Liked River setting is the plus point on this campsite, plenty of space - there was only 2 campers on site! Pub next to campsite, however didn’t try it as there was a huge group of bikers (at a guess 50+) filling the place (Outlaws from Birmingham) so we didn’t try the pub.

Disliked Poor signposting to the entrance, missed it whilst negotiating bikers. Very poor facilities- thankfully had our own.

Primitive grass campsite

Liked Flat pitches for tents; not many camping when I went, so lots of space in lovely quiet field with facilities near. Park car next to tent. The pub was great, 2 mins walk; probably less.

Local attractions

Slotted into a slender strip of land at the meeting point of the Severn and Avon rivers, Tewkesbury (five minutes' drive) hasn’t changed much over the centuries: black and white Tudor buildings overhang the narrow streets, and the 12th-century abbey has the highest Norman tower in England. There are town and country museums to explore, historic buildings like the Old Baptist Chapel, plus shops and entertainment aplenty. Also on your doorstep are the Cotswolds (from half an hour's drive) and attractive towns and cities such as Cheltenham (35 minutes) and Gloucester (half an hour). Ledbury (25 minutes), with its timber-framed houses and 17th-century market house, is also within striking distance. If you're yet to get your full fill of historic sites, head along to Eastnor Castle (20 minutes) or British Camp Hill Fort (25 minutes) in the Malvern Hills National Landscape or treat yourself to a ride on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway (35 minutes' drive)
