  • Family-run pub site between Worcestershire and Herefordshire
  • Tewkesbury and Upton-upon-Severn both within five miles
  • Locally-produced food served Tuesday to Saturday; carvery on Sunday
Once you’re all pitched up, you can head straight in for a pint or a wine – this park is rather handily tagged onto a cosy pub. The Hunters Inn, on the edge of Longdon village, is a handy four miles from the historic town of Tewkesbury around half an hour’s drive from Cheltenham, and also within easy reach of several of the area’s most famed historic attractions, including Tewkesbury Abbey, Gloucester Cathedral and Hartlebury Castle. The Malvern Hills are also a cinch to get to for walks and big bike rides, and the water meadow at Severn Ham, just outside Tewkesbury, is smashing for a bit of wildlife spotting and birdwatching. When you’re done with days of Worcestershire sightseeing, return back to base for a barbecue. However, if you’d rather have someone else do the cooking, then the pub serves some pretty great locally sourced food instead. There’s a nice sprinkling of entertainment here too: if you’re there for the pub’s monthly quiz, you can exercise some brain cells for a crack at winning the Hunters’ pub quiz crown.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Simplicity,
Pub meals,
Friendly staff
Toilet blocks kept clean

Disliked Pitchup confusion.
2nd time I booked, the small tent pitches were unavailable on pitchup even though they were all unoccupied. So I ended up with a massive pitch I did not need.

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Fairly small, quiet site with large pitches, close to Tewkesbury & Upton.
Toilets (2 each in Male & Female) were clean & shower (1 each) which was hot.

Pub on-site

Disliked Shower in Ladies had broken door & broken cubicle, so was just about functional.
Washing-up facilities were minimal & basic

Sadly the food in the pub was not particularly good, despite reading good reviews( maybe it depends on choice?) My risotto was inedible - (thick, stodgy gloop)but the staff were uninterested. The pork was grey & the pie (which had good pastry) lacked flavour. I wouldn’t recommend it personally

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Proximity to pub, gardens, encloses secure site. Kids play area.

Disliked They had recently had a bush fire at the back of the site which may have been from A campfire or bbq. Food only served until 8:30. Mon-Frid. Thought we'd already paid for electric but needed to pay £3 for a single night hookup.

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Nice flat pitches away from the road in quiet area. Food at the Inn was really nice but worth booking as busy in the evening. Not open on Mondays.
Electric is metered so pay for what you use.

Disliked Toilet and shower block. Ladies block had 2 toilets and 1 shower cubicle. Could not use the shower, door would not close as warped, so no privacy. Shower tray warped and full of cold water that couldn’t drain. No matter what I tried there was no hot water, no water at all from the hot tap. Very disappointed as booked this venue specifically because it had a shower block.
Beware there is no bus service in the area.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Great location, pub is also a lovely spot. Food 10/10. It was nice and quiet, couldn't hear any traffic noise, and it's quite a big site the further you walk down!

Disliked Toilets are not great at all. No toilet roll or hand towels available for the one night I stayed.

Recommend to friends Visit again

From the manager: Thanks for reviewing your stay, I wish you had mentioned to one of us about the missing toilet rolls or hand towels as its such an easy thing to rectify rather than waiting until you leave and having to go without these and be unable to dry your hands etc.

Overall a lovely stay at a very reasonable price.

Power optional grass campsite

Liked Location was good and although we were staying at a pub it was generally quiet in the evening. Pub was good too with nice food.
Clearly marked waste disposal. Security was good, could only access the site through a gate which you were given a code for.

Disliked Toilet and shower block were not great. Shower cubicle door would not close properly so you couldn't lock it and there was only 1 shower. The shower had moths on the bottom of the tray as well but the showers were free. Toilets were fine but there was only 2 of them.

Power optional cement/asphalt and grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Clean, well maintained and almost level site. All staff friendly and very helpful. Delicious food in the pub an added bonus, booking needed as very popular. No disturbance from pub customers, site quiet, peaceful and secure.

Disliked No bus route nearby to get into Tewkesbury, we would bring the car next time.

From the manager: Thanks for your review,we appreciate all feedback and strive to improve anything we can, we wish there was some sort of bus service as it would definitely aid customers but we do have a few taxi recommendations.

Local attractions

Over in Tewkesbury, begin with an amble alongside the River Severn or opt for a boat trip along the Avon; then head to the town’s most famed landmark, the 900-year-old Tewkesbury Abbey, and have yourself a heritage wander around its walking trails. The Pepperpot in Upton is also a topping option as an historic highlight, as are Hartlebury Castle and the cathedrals at Worcester and Gloucester, all within easy driving distance. The area plays host to lots of festivals and events throughout the year too; if you’re in the area in July, make sure you check out Tewkesbury’s famed Medieval Festival, where thousands from all over get together for Europe’s biggest annual medieval reenactment: let the merriment commence and the mead flow forth. Elsewhere, this top Worcestershire spot is a most handy locale for outdoorsy and active adventures: there’s a golf course in Tewkesbury and several horse riding schools are in the area too, plus walking and cycling are popular around the Malvern Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a short drive away. Severn Ham is also a splendid place for a walk and a bit of wildlife watching: be sure to take a pair of binoculars or even just your camera phone, because you’ll likely want to snap all the critters and birdlife you’ll find around this wild water meadow.
