At family-friendly site The Thames Head Inn, four miles from Cirencester market town in the Gloucestershire Cotswolds, you definitely won't want to miss the chance. Thames Head is well-placed for exploring the spectacular Cotswolds on foot or by bike – the start of the Thames Path, which follows the world-famous river for 184 miles from source to sea, is half a mile from the site, and there are loads of cycles tours and walking routes starting in Cirencester and Tetbury, both within 10 minutes’ drive of the site. If that's not your scene, kick back on the dog-friendly site in the shade of the trees, soaking in the scenic and peaceful Cotswolds countryside, or take a relaxed stroll through the fields with Rex. Worked up an appetite? The site is in the grounds of the Thames Head Inn bar-restaurant, where food is served well into the evening and the drinks keep flowing until closing (remember to book a table, as mealtimes can get very busy). If you fancy fending for yourself, pick up supplies in Cirencester or Kemble – a 20-minute walk away – and fire up the barbecue. For a change of scenery – and menus – there are plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes of Thames Head.

Disliked Could do with separate shower and toilet, or another one. But shower was lovely and hot

Liked Lovely pitches well maintained easy check in. Lovely pub next door. Easy drive to Cirencester

Disliked Only 1 toilet and shower. In clean condition. Noise from Road , Trains and Planes

Liked Spacious pitches, near to some lovely locations. Pub is excellent, food to die for & dog friendly. Think our dog is still dreaming of the lamb shank bone she was given in the pub.

Disliked Having only one joint toilet/shower for 11 pitches is an issue.
Very close to main Cirencester to Tetbury Road, makes it noisy at times, so does the proximity to Cotswolds Airport
Hard pitches are ‘hard’ bent 7 ‘gravel’ pegs

Liked Convenient location for my needs, very clean and well looked after site, restaurant available nearby.

Disliked Unable to drive over a grey waste disposal drain in motorhome.
There were Limited country side, sunrise and sunset views as the site was surrounded by some tall hedges and trees.

Ideal for an overnight stop when touring.

Liked Lovely large pitch. Great pub with good food and service. Perfect for an overnight stopover.

Disliked One shower room with the only toilet in as well was a bit inconvenient!

Liked Lovely spacious pitch, campsite was kept clean and well maintained by owners, picnic tables were provided, lovely touch. One toilet and shower provided if needed, always available when we visited, didn’t have to queue. Large bin near entrance for rubbish, lovely walks from the pub.

Disliked Only one draw back was the location of our pitch as it was next to a very busy road which was noisy

Liked Great picth, lovely loction, Pub ood excellent, great attentive staff.

Disliked Road noise (people thinking its a racetrack) - howvever out of control of the site but council should be doing something about it

Liked Friendly welcome. Open, well laid out and well kept site.

Disliked The single toilet and shower combined, whilst very clean, seemed inadequate for the number of units, especially at peak times.
The fresh water tap was set back about 8 metres from the gravel road. Without a long hose, which we don’t have, it wasn’t possible to fill our on board water tank.

Liked Lovely camp site in a beautiful location. Ideal for walking straight from the site. Level pitches. Great pub on your doorstep, very friendly and extensive menu.

Disliked Limited toilet facilities but not an issue because we have services on board.

There are plenty of stately homes near The Thames Head Inn if you want to get a feel for the history of the area, with Newark Park, Sudeley Castle, Dyrham Park, Bowood House and Berkeley Castle all within 45 minutes’ drive of the site. TV addict? Visit Chavenage House, 15 minutes from Thames Head, which you may recognise as the Poldark family home of Trenwith from the eponymous BBC drama… If you’re more at home in the outdoors, explore some of the many gardens within 20 minutes of the site, rub elbows with the royals on a trip to Highgrove Gardens at the private residence of Charles and Camilla or, on a grander scale, stroll around the national arboretum at Westonbirt.
