  • Gloucestershire family campsite with Cotswold Hills views
  • A 15-minute drive to Cotswold Farm Park; 30 minutes to Blenheim Palace
  • Five minutes’ drive to Stow-on-the-Wold; bus service nearby
Along with a spacious grass camping ground (as one might expect of sporting pitches), Stow-on-the-Wold Rugby Club has some seriously eye-catching views of the Cotswold Hills. This site is in a fab location just outside the historic village of Stow-on-the Wold in Gloucestershire, making it a smashing spot for family rambles, touring and gallivanting all over the Cotswolds. From the hilltop pitches you can walk for miles on local footpaths without going near a road (thus making this a cracking base for cyclists too), and if you’re keen to get on the golf course, you can book a round at Naunton Downs Golf Club (10 minutes). Eager to do some city sightseeing but prefer to leave the vehicle behind? No worries, a local bus service leaving from the local village of Oddington (a short walk away) can whisk you off to theatreland in Stratford-upon-Avon (40 minutes) or the dreaming spires of Oxford (55 minutes). Back on site, simple facilities include showers, toilets and a wifi connection (around the clubhouse) so you can keep in touch with the folk back home. Stow (five minutes’ drive) has cafés, bars and a couple of small and handy stores for basics. For more amenities, the best stop is Moreton-in-Marsh (15 minutes) for markets, pubs, supermarkets and indie shops. It’s also got a mainline rail station with services to London.

Primitive grass travel trailer campsite

Liked Night views from the pitches, staff friendly and helpful, toilets and showers all clean and service well. Pitches are sloping but with chocks we were fine! The club had rugby practice whilst we were here so we enjoyed a pint in the club too. Easy walk to stow on the wold.

Disliked Nothing to do with the club but there is road noise - appreciate nothing to do with club.

From the manager: Hi, thanks for staying with us & leaving a review.

I think you had the mis fortune of staying with us during the windy spell we had, which blew across the road, 3 fields away which did bring a bit of road noise. We've had some windy days lately unfortunately.. mostly the road cannot be heard from the camp site, however we're pleased you enjoyed your stay, hopefully you will visit us again in the calmer weather!!

Great site for exploring this area of the cotswolds

Liked Can't thank enough the hospitality of this site even though we we're only there for a couple of nights. On arrival we were greeted warmly and even later when we had an issue with our van due to heavy use over the last couple of weeks, Maria and team did their best to assist us and we were eventually sorted. On top of that the facilities are clean and very reasonable and I highly recommend the site.

Liked Not much too like

Disliked Showers were extremely small. The grass pitches were extremely sloped. Even with chocks under the wheels it was still undeveloped.

From the manager: Hi, thanks for staying with us & for leaving a review. We're sorry you found the showers too small, they are standard door & cubicle size & most people find them acceptable given the reviews we've had. The other option of course was for you to use your campervan showers or the large rugby club showers as detailed in our site information leaflet.

Yes, the site, in the middle of the Cotswold Hills, has some areas that slope, however with standard ramps or levelling blocks most people appear to manage. Regrettably, our planning permission doesn't allow for us to completely level the site.

We're sorry you didn't appear to enjoy your stay, we do our best to give our guests the best experience we can.

Lovely, spacious site, beautiful views and very peaceful. Good facilities, never had…
