Safari tent
Liked We stayed in February so the log burner was a definite plus! Nice cosy feel to the safari tent and the train station is right there, you can see the trains pull in from the porch. Facilities were functional, showers hot, hard to know what it would be like at high season.

Field unpowered grass campervan or tent site
Liked Loads of space in the field with beautiful views. Great for weather watching and stargazing. Showers and toilets were always clean. 5 mins walk down to the estuary then 4 miles into Dolgellau/5 to Barmouth. Cadair Idris a short drive which is a lovely varied walk up and tired the kids out! Oh and there's a cupboard to charge your phone which was very useful.
Disliked Not a dislike - just to say the woodland pitches looked lovely but would've been a bit cramped with our 6 man tent.

Unpowered grass tent site
Liked Very friendly site which didn't feel too busy despite being full, lots of space for kids to play. Compost toilets and showers always clean (respect due to the hardworking staff!) and never had to queue. Easy access to beach and country park (with 2 playgrounds) and a nice cycle to Calshot down a country lane.
Disliked No recycling! It's 2025 guys, sort it out!

Liked The facilities were really nice - good shower, clean compost toilets, covered marquee to use in bad weather, outdoor kitchen with gas hob. Kids enjoyed the tennis court - won a few points against me due to uneven bounce!
Disliked Just be aware that there's a fair amount of air and road traffic noise. We did see the red arrows though!

Power optional grass campervan, tent or trailer tent site
Liked Relaxed site, generous flat pitches - we pitched the tent on the caravan side so we could use the electric hook-up (bring hard ground tent pegs if you are doing that). Clean facilities, never had to queue although it was quiet when we were there. Offered firewood every evening brought to your pitch - braziers and fire pits available. Kids loved the rope swings and stroking the horses but spent most of their time playing on a pile of gravel!
Disliked Nothing

Kingsbridge, Devon, England
Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site
Liked What a beautiful view over the cove! 5 minute walk down to the beach and rock pools.
Hot showers and clean compost toilets. Short drive to Kingsbridge (supermarkets; leisure centre and cinema if the weathers foul)
A special thanks to the owners who came to the rescue when we ripped a not-insignificant hole in our tent!
Disliked It's quite exposed to the elements so you need to make your peace with whatever is thrown at you!

Meadow unpowered grass tent or trailer tent site
Liked Nice vibe, shared facilities always clean, pizza night was excellent despite the rain! Suzi was always around for any help you might need. Off-road 2 mile walk into Llanidloes was lovely (uphill on the way back though!) Little shop if you need anything - great eggs.
Disliked Nothing. The pitch wasn't totally flat but they are planning to rectify this for next season.

Bell tent
Liked A really peaceful setting with a beautiful view. Very good hot showers. Although facilities are shared, it's two showers/toilets for 4 tents so you'd be unlucky to be in a queue. Nice little kitchen with everything provided.
Disliked Only staying one night!

Liked We had so much space! You can camp wherever you choose over multiple fields It was very peaceful. Basic but clean toilets. Lovely walk through the woods up to Hardy Monument (and beyond). Honourable mention to the owner's friendly dogs who checked on us daily. The owners were lovely too!
Disliked Nothing! We camped at the top of the hill which our little car didn't really like once the ground was wet - had to zigzag up!

Unpowered grass tent site
Liked A really beautiful and peaceful site, just a few large pitches dotted around a meadow. Compost toilets and hot shower which were always spotless. Our girls (3 and 5) had a lovely time playing in the long grass and paddling in the stream. A very warm welcome from Rosie (and her dog Tilly) who was so helpful. Rural location but large supermarket within 20 mins drive.
Disliked No, nothing. It was pretty much perfect.

Orchard camping pod (no pets)
Liked Stayed with our daughters (2&4) in the camping pod - thought it would be very basic but each pod has its own stand pipe, decent size fridge/freezer and kettle, two double plug/USBsockets... camping luxury!
The 4 pods are quite close together so you will get to know your neighbours!
Toilet and shower facilities always clean, and there were also 2 family rooms with bath/shower/toilet/baby change which is a great facility for those with young kids.
You can use the private beach at the sister site Ladram Bay which is definitely worth a look. Easy drive to Exmouth/Sidmouth beaches which are also very clean with good facilities.
Staff were all lovely.

#2 bell tent
Liked We stayed 4 nights in the Bell tent and had a lovely time.
Our daughters (2 and 4) loved being on the farm and up close with the animals. Ali and Shaun are very laid back and helpful. Farm produce available onsite - great eggs! Close to Malmesbury which has a nice river walk.
Adequate shared facilities which can be pretty busy when the campsite is full!
