Intake Farm: Wudu grass camping pitches

General

  • Friendly Staffordshire farm site a mile from the village of Ipstones
  • Alton Towers and Peak District National Park within 20 minutes' drive
  • Meet the animals on site and join in with feeding time

Set up for a stay in the Staffordshire Moorlands at a rural spot that’s also within easy reach of heaps of days out and amenities. Intake Farm is in a great position about half an hour’s drive from the centre of Stoke-on-Trent and 15 minutes from Leek (both handy places for shops and other essentials).

Days out? There’s plenty to choose from, whether you’re aiming to hike your way around the Peak District National Park, scream along the rollercoasters at Alton Towers or take the kids to see the animals at Peak Wildlife Park and Trentham Monkey Forest (or perhaps a bit of all three…)

In between such outings you’ll be staying at a small farm where you’ll share the space with horses, cows, sheep, llamas, pigs, hens, ducks and a pet goose – they’re a friendly bunch, and even more so if you manage to join in with feeding time while you’re here.

Barbecues and campfires are permitted on site, so come along prepared with the right kit, and pick up the food elements at the small supermarket in Ipstones, a mile away. There are a couple of pubs in the village too if you fancy an evening of dinner and drinks. Please note that this is a calm site with quiet time expected after 10pm.

Please note

Please note that the toilet/shower facilities are unisex.

No cars/motorcycles at the site. All cars must be parked in the designated area.

Reception is unmanned after 7:30 p.m.. Please inform the campground while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time so that the team can provide information about your unit/site.

Bookings must not be for more than 14 consecutive nights.

No electric barbecues allowed.

The campground/park does not accept breeds/crossbreeds listed in the Dangerous Dog Act (i.e. Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, and Fila Brasileiro).

If reception is closed on arrival: please contact the number provided on your booking confirmation.

Your dog must be tattooed or microchipped.

Discount cards and gift vouchers cannot be applied to bookings made via Pitchup.com.

Swimming in the lake is not allowed.

Single-sex bookings of 10 or more people (couples and immediate family members excepted) are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

Guests are advised to bring a good quality torch with them as parts of the campground/park are unlit.

Group bookings of 5 or more units (e.g. tent, caravan, motorhome or accommodation hire) travelling together are not permitted via Pitchup.com.

No gas barbecues allowed.

At least one of the party members must be aged 18 or over.

Under 18s must be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.

Twin axle vehicles are not permitted on site.

Fantastic 2nights in the woods plenty of space to spread out everything on site as described and more we had the pitch with fire pit and there was plenty of fire wood you can get from the owners for a small fee compared to the shops / petrol stations . A pair of good boots warm kit and a dry place to stay in if you take that with you here you’ll find that it’s the perfect place just chill and loose yourself in amongst the trees birds and the owls

Quirky site tucked away in glorious countryside. Friendly and welcoming owner. Basic but clean and functional facilities. Lovely sheltered tent pitch in Wudu Wood, with Tawny Owls, Pheasants and a very friendly Robin for company. Pitch sizes are ok for up to medium sized tents. Great pub with excellent food - Marquis of Granby - a five minute drive away. Very little light pollution so great night skies (when there were breaks in the rain clouds). A good torch is a must. Despite the somewhat remote location, there is a decent EE phone signal.

We booked this bus for my Son's birthday. The host even put up a happy birthday banner up for him , which was really kind and sweet. His face when saw it was magical. He loved it so much. We had such an amazing time here , we wished we could of stayed longer. Jamie the young boy who works on the farm was so welcoming and kind , he is real asset. Thanks again for making my son dreams come true , he will never forget it. 💙

The owners of the site were very friendly and informative. They had daily feedings of animals which was an amazing experience to do.
The field being around animals was great too.
The showers were a great bonus too!

    Disliked:

The only negative was that the ground was quite rocky where the camping field was, which made it difficult to put pegs in.

The location, the relaxed atmosphere approach. The campfires, and camping in the woods

    Disliked:

Lack of hand sanitiser ( or other hygiene options) in the compost toilets. Not the levellest pitches.

From the manager...

Thank you for camping with us and we are glad you liked your stay. We apologise for the lack of hand sanitizer in the toilets we do aim to keep the toilets supplied with some but we’re unaware they had run out, it would have helped us if you spoken to us whilst you were staying here to rectify the situation.

For more of those family-friendly outings, put the rides and other attractions of Alton Towers (20 minutes) on the schedule, splash your way down all the slides at Waterworld water park (half an hour) or opt for something more low key with watersports and a ride on the steam railway at Rudyard Lake (25 minutes).
