Unpowered grass tent site (backpacker, solo)
Liked A very basic campsite with sheltered, flat pitches in a good location close to Bath and Bristol.
Disliked There doesn't appear to be anyone on site managing things and in peak season the campsite was very noisy late at night, sometimes teens shouting and playing music at 2am. There is one shower and a few toilets for the whole campsite, which were also filthy during peak season. Definitely nicer in September than August.

Liked The campsite is formed from 2 paddocks within the heart of the farm. If you like farms then you'll love it! Just remember that this means a cacophony of different animal sounds throughout the night but there is also something quite charming about being sung to sleep by a donkey and woken up at dawn by the rooster!
The grass is well kept so it's soft for sleeping and easy tent pegging. The facilities were basic but clean.
Across the road is a pub we didn't get to try but looks cosy. There's also a local organic milk and flavoured milk refill station and coffee machine, which we indulged in.
Disliked There wasn't anyone in when we arrived and it wasn't obvious how to find anyone, which as an introvert I'd usually prefer if there are clear instructions provided about what to do but there was a lack of signposting or instructions on pitchup. I have no idea if there was WiFi as no WiFi instructions available.
There are lots of buildings and it wasn't obvious where the showers or the kitchen area was. There also weren't any recycling facilities that I could see.
The paddocks are small, which was fine for us as we were the only ones, but I imagine with more people it might feel cramped and the single toilet may not feel enough.

Unpowered grass tent or motorhome site
Liked We had such a peaceful weekend with amazing views of the brecons, loads of space and perfectly located for access to walking routes. It's as close to the beauty and simplicity of wild camping as you can get. The hosts were also very warm, welcoming and friendly, providing reasonably priced wood and fire pit
